Number 100!

This was a special one for me for a number of reasons. Hitting that 100th wedding was such an important milestone and to be able to have that coincide with two people I’ve known most of my life was really special. Then to top that off, it was my first time at and what an absolutely stunning venue with wonderful staff. I also had a great time hanging out with who I hadn’t worked with before, who has produced an incredible set of photos from this wedding but is also a top bloke to spend the day with. And this is not the first time I’ve commented on this, but if I notice the flowers then someone is doing something right. So great work - Colour people!

Alissa & Pete met in high school but it wasn’t until years later through a Facebook message and a casual meeting at Bradbury pub that they began their romance. And now they have tied the knot in the Southern Highlands in a beautiful ceremony along with their two little boys.

Celebrant💍 | MC🎤 | DJ🎧

I’ve known Jack for a long time and it was a real honour to be able to play an important part in his special day. Tanniah and Jack met out the back of a theatre after a performance of Fiddler On The Roof. It was the beginning of a long journey beginning with friendship and leading through to a gorgeous wedding on a private property in Richmond.

It all happened under a beautiful canopy of greenery, then into the marquee for a cracking party. I stayed the whole evening pulling double duties as MC & DJ.

It was a great night with many of my own friends in attendance and extra special for me because it was my 99th wedding!

💍Virginia & Frank

Fancy an elopement ceremony?

What does that even mean? Well for me an elopement ceremony is a scaled back ceremony compared to my full ceremony. I don’t write a script and go into full storyteller mode, and it is generally just for a select few friends (20 or less). You can still have music and if you’d like you can write your own personal vows. And of course I still cover all of the important legal stuff. It’s shorter than a full ceremony at about 15 minutes. Normally I only do these Monday to Thursday, but exceptions can be made at shorter notice depending on my availability.

And that’s exactly what I did for Virginia & Frank. It’s always a treat for me when the wedding is close to home and I’m very lucky to live not too far from Sydney Harbour. Virginia and Frank had a cruise planned for their honeymoon and booked their elopement in for the morning of, with the ship and the Opera House in the background. They kept the cruise a secret from their guests so they could leave the wedding and get on board without any interlopers.

This is a love story that began in the most romantic place you could imagine.

Maccas.

It was a workplace romance, that started with our heroes not knowing they each had a crush on the other. And it would take five years and a lot of water under the bridge before Kayne could gather the courage to make a move.

Late one night he reached out on Facebook and they messaged back and forth until 4am. By the end they were both feeling sparks and butterflies.

What a party! They were married at the gorgeous in Kangaroo Valley. The reception was incredible, being guided by myself as the handsome MC (who’s writing this?) and with a banging dance floor being curated by an incredible DJ - also me!

💍🎤 Sophie & Jesse

Years ago, Sophie was at a house party she didn’t want to go to. She ran into an old friend there and while catching up, a boy walked into the room who made Sophie exclaim - “Oh he is cute”. Her friend replied - “That’s my brother!”

When Jesse found his sister he was also quick to notice Sophie. He overcame his own nerves and went straight to her for an introduction. And from there it was on like Donkey Kong.

They had a gorgeous ceremony on the dock of the wonderful followed by a fabulous reception upstairs with an exceptional team of vendors and the most extraordinary selection of guests.

Is there a better place to start your relationship with your soulmate than Schoolies? Jovs & Zac actually met in 7th grade but due to an early relocation they didn’t really have much to do with each other. Years later through mutual friends found themselves celebrating Schoolies together in Nelson Bay and it all led to a cracking wedding in the Hunter Valley.

It was my second for the day, having married Carly & Matt under the Harbour Bridge, then taking a leisurely drive up the highway to Wallalong House. It was totally worth it for the beautiful setting and then I got to hang out with all of the cool people as MC at their reception.

The weather was good to us this day, even though it was threatening otherwise. Carly & Matt first met in the Rocks so it was only fitting to have their wedding ceremony in the same place 9 years and 3 children later. This a love story with two people who pretty much ignored each other their whole lives. They were connected through mutual family friends since childhood. It wasn’t until they were in their twenties, playing beer pong at a house party that they really hit it off. But all was as it was meant to be. Because I’m the end they got married! This is a love story that involves ghosting, matching tattoos and a healthy amount of Rugby League. They both swiped left, but it took a fair bit of persistence for Nick to get a reply from Bianca. On their first date they quickly discovered they each had a tattoo of a shark, and a common love for the NRL. Bianca knew Nick was the one when she realised he was missing his team’s game to be on their date, and by that point Nick was already hooked.

Caroline & Jeff had a beautiful, intimate ceremony at Wiseman’s Ferry with only their family in attendance. It was lovely, informal and personal. Jeff decided to wing it for his vows. Normally this would have me a bit nervous but Caroline knew Jeff was best in the moment. And she wasn’t wrong, he delivered some of the most genuine, heart felt vows I’ve witnessed.

This was a romance that started at the beer garden in Terrigal. Brenton was minding his own business when Marina approached and made the first move. She thought he was the cheekiest & most handsome boy she’d ever met. And by the end of the night she’d been thrown out and copped a 6 month ban, with absolutely no regrets! Because it all led to their fantastic wedding at Peterson House in the Hunter Valley.

When Alex & Richard met they had no romantic interest in each other at all. They began as work colleagues and gradually built a really great friendship. It wasn’t until Richard was telling an old mate about his great friend Alex that his mate asked why he wasn’t with her. She was perfect for him. And that was it, it was a real moment of clarity for Richard and all he had to do was take a leap of faith.
It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony in a great location, and now they’re married!

Stella & Kenny are a great couple with great teeth. They’re also dentists! When we first met we quickly discovered they live on the same street I once lived on. I had the honour of being the MC for their reception at Miramare Gardens and they pulled out all the stops. They had Dragon Dancers, stunt performers, fire breathers, a Photo Booth, an awesome DJ, fireworks, smoke guns, and LED Robot dancers for the party. This wedding was epic. Sadly I didn’t get a photo with the happy couple, but I did get one with the robots!

Marc liked Elizabeth the moment they met. It was Elizabeth’s first day at a new job and Marc had worked there for some time. He asked her out many times but she was shy and kept declining. But his persistence paid off when she finally said yes, and they went for their first date to a very romantic movie. Baywatch.
Elizabeth’s favourite thing to do is to sing. When she is in the car she sings the whole time, and sometimes Marc has to ask her to stop. Because Marc’s favourite thing is to not sing.
We couldn’t avoid the rain on the day but we had a lovely covered area to have the ceremony and these lovebirds had a beautiful wedding.

Izzy was scrolling through a list of tributes on a dating app when she found Rachel’s profile. She swiped right and eagerly awaited a response. All Rachel had to do was swipe right, but she isn’t particularly tech savvy. Instead she liked it, hearted it, and added Izzy as a friend all in one hit. She seemed VERY KEEN. Luckily, Izzy was also keen, but more importantly they were relieved to have both found someone normal.

When we first spoke to Mark, we knew he was going to be able to prepare & deliver the perfect ceremony. He has a very approachable, warm and vibrant nature while still being very professional and made the whole process so easy and enjoyable. I always dreaded having a boring ceremony and it was nothing short of PERFECT. He wrote the most incredible ceremony, leaving us with the warm and fuzzies. We had LOTS of compliments because not only did we have Mark for the ceremony but as our MC & DJ. I was nervous that our reception would be dull and boring, but Mark kept the crowd laughing (especially Steve) & dropped some absolute bangers. Destination Wedding! Well kind of. For me at least. I’m a bit behind on my socials but back in August I flew up to Brisbane to marry Mel & Brett. It had been 28 years since I’d last seen Mel and I was absolutely chuffed when she asked me to come up for her wedding as celebrant & MC. We performed together in our high school production of Grease. She was Frenchy and I was Roger. And her Mum was my music teacher (and just so happens to be one of the most influential people in my career as a singer). Mel & Brett both worked in law enforcement in Canberra when Mel asked Brett to come over and discuss some landscaping work she needed done (this was something he had experience with). His daughter accompanied him and what followed was a 6 hour meeting that turned into a family dinner. Great day, great wedding and fantastic reception.

Sam & Lachlan moved in together just as the first lockdown hit. Going for long walks around Chowder Bay was about the only thing they could do, so Sergeants Mess was the perfect venue for their special day.
