Learning magic is easier than you might think!

You can perform impressive magic at any skill level. The most important thing to understand is this: no matter how simple the secret may seem; you must give your routine quality practice and rehearsal time before you perform it for an audience. What the audience observes is often quite different from the reality of what is happening.

This is what the students learn in each class…we call this the difference between the effect and the method.

There are important life-lessons the students will learn from this because these are important critical thinking skills that will serve our students well into their adult years. It forces them to think beyond the surface, to analyse, to anticipate, and to acquire problem-solving skills.

Congratulations to those students who graduated over the last few weeks. You should all be very proud of your accomplishments!

“There is something special in kids learning how to perform the art of magic.”
While mastering and learning magic aids in building a student’s confidence, there is something special about participating in the arts. Getting up on a stage and performing provides the kids a chance to step outside their comfort zone. As they improve and see their own progress, their self-confidence flourishes.
Magicians are experts in human behaviour. Magic challenges what we (think we) know. It steps into the unknown, activating our curiosity. Minds are then open to new ways of seeing and thinking. Which in turn creates space for learning new skills and behaviours.
Here are some pictures of our most recent graduates performing their routines. Well done everyone! Your presentations and performances were all superb and you should all feel proud of achieving your goals. The growth of confidence shown in each of you is amazing and can be used in all areas of your lives moving forward.

We live in an era where too many kids are super glued to iPhone, iPads and are permanently wired to the internet and social media. There's too much screen time and not enough play time in the real world. Anything that gets kids away from their screens is going to help them have a healthier balance in their lives.
That’s where The School of Magic will help them do something with their hands and minds.
Many parents that I have talked to have been very pleased to see their children develop a new-found interest after discovering the beginner’s course in magic and were super supportive of the fact that it helped their kids spend their time with something much more productive & rewarding.
Magic is both a new skill for the hobbyist and a life skill for the future, as participants will exercise creativity, self-confidence, discipline, all inspiring self-growth & development.

✨ “Now you see it, now you don’t!” ✨

To create illusions, the magician presents one reality to their audience while concealing another. Misdirection is used to focus the audience’s attention on an unimportant object or action, so nobody notices the important movements happening right before their eyes.

That skill is the sly physical manipulation, known as “sleight of hand”.

Using sleight of hand, magicians can manipulate objects like cards and coins without the audience noticing it. The best sleight of hand is performed slowly and naturally as the ‘trick’ is to make the move effortless and invisible!

Each performance comes down to several things: but the two important factors we have learnt in this course is style and presentation.
Our Showman Magicians did just that, with great style and presentation. Each demonstrating the skills they were taught, including their ability to hold the audience’s attention not only with the tricks performed, but also with their patter and overall stage presence.
Each student presented a well thought out Trilogy of magic effects that was noted with the sequence in which they presented, keeping a great flow from start to finish. All the Showman participants demonstrated good competency and enthusiasm with flawless ex*****on that resulted in a very captivated and engaged audience.
Mission accomplished Showman’s…Well done!

Welcome back graduates! Welcome to The Showman!

Over the first couple of sessions the showman students have been busy learning and understanding how good magic starts with good thinking! The connection you have with your audience is primary and performing the magic secondary.

Before we can go out and give our audience something special to remember, a feeling of joy, a feeling of wonder, a story to tell… We must first consider; What is our focus? What is our goal?

Magicians must be able to entertain and engage their audiences. The students have been learning the ability to create a sense of suspense and drama, and to use their performance skills to hold the audience's attention.

The real magic does indeed lie in the effects…the effects that you create in the minds of your audience!
