hi everyone! just wanted to write a little something on here, a bit of an update.
so, some of you may already know that the red kitchen has a new owner. that would be me, jess :) you might remember me from the days when we were a cafe on wentworth street, as the girl who made your coffee 4 days a week.
for those who don't know me, since working for caroline i've bounced between sydney, wollongong and berry getting myself a qualification as a chef (inspired very much by caroline's passion for food and the satisfaction i got from my days in the cafe and at events). i'm currently working full-time as a restaurant supervisor down in berry for another inspiring woman in hospitality. i met my partner, daniel, working together in my first year as an apprentice and we live in shellharbour with two cavalier spaniels (the worst choice of dog for two full-time hospitality workers).
that's nice jess, but what's going on with the business?
honestly? i don't know just yet. the intention was to get started as a home-based kitchen, but we (daniel and i) have some kinks to work out with that idea. another snag- working in hospitality full-time does close off prime catering days to deliveries. we both take a lot of pride in what we do, and we like to think we're good at it, so you'd best believe we're rostered on every weekend.
what we do know is that we WILL do something. i'm currently in the process of getting the website back up and running and writing up some new menus. we're also open to taking on some small jobs while we work out the kinks. we're still inspired by local produce, big flavours, communities, real, hearty food to nourish body and soul and sustainability, and that will never change. we do eventually want this to be our full-time gig, and we'd love to have you guys be apart of the journey.
if anyone has been missing caro's food and has a job they need done, we'd love to hear from you! what were your favourites? what's missing from the cafes and eateries in your area? anything new you'd like to see? basically, what can we do for you?
thanks for sticking on the page
