From today (Saturday 9 December 2017) this is the form all couples should use when giving notice of their intention to marry.

The long-awaited House of Representatives vote for marriage equality finally passed yesterday. I know many of you have been waiting many years for the opportunity to marry a partner of the same s*x, but we're nearly there.

You can lodge applications from tomorrow (Saturday 9 December). Tomorrow, when the new form is published, download the Notice of Intended Marriage from the Attorney General's website https://www.ag.gov.au/familiesandmarriage/marriage/documents/notice-of-intended-marriage.pdf, flll it in and send it to the celebrant of your choice. Most celebrants will be happy to help you complete the form if you need help (you can call me on 0418 257 413). The law requires you to give one month notice of the intended marriage so the earliest date you can marry would be 9 January 2018.

As part of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants (AFCC) I am fully conversant with the legislative changes to ensure your marriage is legal. You can lodge your application at [email protected]
