Benalla Street Art Festival

Feel good Friday! Today, we are reflecting on the huge success of the Benalla Street Art Festival held in March. With 15 artists, we created 15 new murals for the community. We anticipate this will contribute to higher visitors during the year. A staggering 50,000+ visitors were recorded during the festival itself, making it the most successful street art festival to date. The project was presented by Benalla Rural City Council & Visit Victoria and curated by Eddie Zammit.

Thank you to our official artists – Tim Bowtell, David Bromley, Buff Diss, Melanie Caple, Tommy Day, DXTR, Lisa King, Minna Leunig, M***a, David Lee Pereira, Travis Price, REKA, Sofles, Amanda Valdes and Neryl Walker.

Day 8 and the last official day of the Benalla Street Art Festival 🤩

This last week has absolutely flown by and we’ve loved every minute!

This piece is by local and renowned artist Tim Bowtell. It features his grandchildren Bear and Atlas and his sweet kelpie cross Olly.

You’ll find Tim’s work at the back of the old SEC building, off Lowry Place, Benalla.

This incredible piece by international artist DXTR has been a crowd favourite!

DXTR has travelled all the way from Berlin, Germany. Through his unique style, he wanted to bring a piece of Berlin to his art here in Benalla.

Neryl is passionate about celebrating women, and finds her inspiration in mid-20th-century pop culture. She has been working alongside her daughter Ivy and husband Tim to transform this wall 🩷💙

Join us at Benalla Art Gallery at 3pm today for an Artist Meet and Greet with James MacSporran.

Presented as a Fringe Event of the Benalla Street Art Festival and coinciding with MacSporran's Gallery Shop exhibition 'Emerging from the mist', the event is presented by Benalla Art Gallery in collaboration with Arts Project Australia.

This social event is free and refreshments will be provided.

James MacSporran is an emerging artist working primarily in painting and drawing. His work is inspired by trains and cityscapes, and embodies a blend of abstraction and graffiti. Featuring now as part of 'Emerging from the mist' are new works including small sculptural paintings inspired by graffitied trains, and paintings on crushed aerosol cans.
