Flashback to my most favourite custom order - "Banksia".

Banksia was made as a new baby gift, from a Supurla by Norwellan vintage woollen blanket, and lined with the delightfully sweet possum cotton lining. We finished her with customised hand embroidery, and my heart was truly singing.

A new creation completed, which means it's time for a bit of cleaning and maintenance before I start on my next project.

Truth be told, woollen blankets drop so many tiny fibres, it accumulates really quickly and is essential to ensuring my machine works smoothly!

It is my absolute delight to introduce "Banksia".

I've had a hard time keeping this incredibly special coat under wraps!

Made from a recently aquired Supurla by Norwellan vintage woollen blanket, and lined with the delightfully sweet possum cotton lining, Banksia is finished with customised hand embroidery.

My heart was full of excitement wrapping her up ready for delivery! 😍

Meet "Veira".

Now on her way to her new home, Veira is a Reversible Pixie Pea Coat with a sweet pixie hood, made from a loved vintage Pompadour by Invicta 100% woollen blanket, and lined with the sweetest new floral cotton. Two sets of repurposed buttons, and two patch pockets for collecting treasures add the final touches.

This one has made my heart so happy watching her come up together.

It's been a week, and my sewing machine has sat, packed up, and deserted on my craft table. I'm so glad to be back at it tonight.

I'm not sure I'll ever get tired of these colours...

Did you know that proper care and washing of your woollen coats and capes will ensure they last?

Using a detergent that is formulated specifically for wool will give best results.

It is really important detergents do not contain enzymes, as enzymes break down the natural woollen fibres and can cause holes and deterioration.

Washing at a maximum temperature of 40° will also ensure the woollen fibres don't shrink and mishape your garment. Thankfully, most washing machines have a wool cycle.

We use Softly Wool Wash. It is certified by The Woolmark Company. They're also Australian owned and made and don't test on animals!

I found some beautiful treasures from our local reuse store yesterday!

recreate is tucked away in Mt Pleasant, in the Adelaide Hills, and is full of beautiful handmade wares made from upcycled, reused, or repurposed items and materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. I walked out with several new blankets, a tonne of buttons, and a happy heart.

Then today, I accidentally added four new patterns to my shopping cart - three are adult sizes 🙊 I can't wait to share them with you.

Made from a pastel checked vintage 100% woollen Pompadour by Invicta blanket in soft pinks, blues, and greens, Annabelle is a Pixie Pea Coat lined with a beautiful feminine floral 100% cotton lining. She has lined, fully functional pockets, and a sweet pixie hood to keep little heads, necks and ears warm.

Annabelle is ready for her new home. She is Size 4 (to fit a 57cm chest, 105cm height), but is generously sized to be worn over layers, and to last multiple Winters. Annabelle came as a beautiful pair of very loved matching blankets, so is perfect for a custom order if you want matching Pixie Pea Coats.

I'm so excited - I've been wanting to make my own buttons out of repurposed wood for a while now. Today, while I was sewing, my wonderful hubby presented me with the first of a sample of buttons he made using repurposed timber. We polished it up and oiled it with beeswax. A few little tweaks needed, but hopefully the next lot of buttons will be our own! 🤞

Sweet Sunday ❤️ Introducing "Daisy"

Made from a soft lemon vintage Onkaparinga Woollen Mill blanket (circa 1950s), and lined with a contrasting new purple floral 100% cotton lining, this Pixie Pea coat is looking for a new home.

Size 5: This is measured for a chest measurement of 60cm, height 113cm. Sizing is made to fit multiple seasons, and worn over other layers of clothing.

$145, plus postage (approx $13.00 Express with Australia Post).

Pastel checked pretties waiting for repurposing 😍

If you look closely, you can see some holes and imperfections. The great thing about upcycling is that I work around damage to the original blanket that would otherwise limit the use of the blanket, or see it destined for the bin.

I've always been overly sentimental and nostalgic. It drives my husband nuts.

Saturday was the anniversary of my Nanna passing seven years ago. She was such a beautiful and special person, and is the inspiration and influence behind so many of my hobbies and interests. She was never one to sew much, but her knitting and crochet skills were incredible.

When I'm sewing, I use my Janome sewing machine that my Nanna picked up second hand eons ago, which she had serviced locally, and gifted me, after she ordered a photocopied manual straight from Janome to be posted to us.

The button tin from my Nanna has bought me many hours of entertainment, and now provides the same entertainment to our children. If you've never run your hands through a button tin, I encourage you to give it a go.

My sewing kit was also given to me by my Grandma well before she passed, but I never realised just how valuable it was. There's lavendar sewn into beautiful little parcels, and hand embroidery that she would've done with her Embroider's Guild. I wish I'd learnt more from her.

I love that I have elements of both my Nanna and my Grandma sewing with me. I find that pretty special ❤️

Introducing "Thomas".

Made for my own special little man, this Pixie Pea Coat was customised to include, at his request, a side pocket to store his foraged treasures.

Lined with a bold navy paisley, the lining contrasts beautifully with the soft, pastel blue of the vintage woollen blanket; and again, fastens with buttons selected from my Nanna's button tin.

Introducing "Mikaela".

Mikaela was my first foray into upcycling woollen blankets, and I have very much fallen in love.

This Pixie Pea Coat is lined with an absolutely stunning floral navy combed cotton sateen. It's super silky, and a beautiful contrast to the soft pastel of the vintage, preloved pastel woollen blanket. And the best part? She's fastened with buttons from my beautiful late Nanna's button tin.

Generously and sustainably sized, this is likely to fit my little Miss for three winters!

There are so many adorable prints to pick from. I could spend hours looking at each of them.

How adorable is the little marsupial? Possum or sugar glider? I'm undecided, but it's very cute!😍
