**Signed, Sealed, But Not Delivered**

Imagine planning the wedding of your dreams, only to discover that the person officiating isn’t even authoriseed to do so. This is exactly what happened with a Queensland impostor who posed as a celebrant without ever obtaining the necessary registration.

In Australia, celebrating love isn't a casual affair. As much as we’re up for a good time, Celebrants must adhere to stringent regulations set by the Commonwealth Government, complete with a strict code of conduct. It’s no joke—this isn’t a license you get from a Weetbix box!

When I embarked on my path to becoming a celebrant, I invested six months studying at TAFE, and that was just the beginning. Completing the course is just one step; it doesn’t automatically guarantee you’ll be registered. There's a lot of celebrants in training taking bookings already, which is illegal.

So, how can you ensure your celebrant is the real deal? All licensed Australian celebrants are registered on the Attorney General's Website, so remember to take a second and just check before locking a celebrant in - https://www.ag.gov.au/families-and-marriage/marriage/find-marriage-celebrant

A little about me...

So you've decided to take the plunge. You've found the dress. Decided on the cake and where you want to celebrate afterwards. But what about the Ceremony, and the person who's going to make it legal and legit. Thats where I come in. My name is Shannon Fleming and I am a Marriage Celebrant approved by the Attorney Generals' Department to conduct Marriage, Committment and Civil Ceremonies throughout Australia. Having been to many weddings, and hearing from family & friends that are planning weddings, all asking are there are young vibrant celebrants out there. The answer now....is yes! I'm a bit of an alternative to the 'average celebrant'. Your wedding day should be relaxing, fun and one you will remember. Being a Celebrant is more than just about the legalities of the day, it’s about having an understanding of the Couple, who they are, and what is important to them. I am a fully qualified and registered Civil Celebrant in Australia., and it's my job to make it 'your day, your way' . You don't have to stick to the norm with all the frills and over the top things, but if you want to, that's ok too. This Marriage business is a pretty important decision, and shouldn't be taken lightly. Stop, think, listen and discuss, however just because it is serious, doesn't mean that on your special day you have to be. Its's ok, you can laugh during the ceremony wherever it may be! Nothing is off limits, all you can do is ask.
