What a joy to get to know and flower for Tamsyn & Dale’s wedding. The brief was a white & blush colour scheme in a garden style featuring some daisy like flowers, and Tamsyn trusted us to bring the vision to life.

Seasonal availability can be challenging especially when the weather hasn’t been behaving. Colder than normal temperatures and heavy rainfall can affect the availability of flowers. We were lucky as the chamomile and flannel had just come in to season! A week earlier, and we would have been hustling for alternatives. A few dear florist friends were also able to help me acquire a few daisies.

The best advice I can give to couples planning wedding flowers: trust your florist to create your flowers to a colour scheme and vibe rather than specific flowers. We can create what you’re after if we are allowed the flexibility to be innovative with flower choices.

Tamsyn’s message to me this morning:

It’s the best feeling when a bride messages you to say the wedding bouquets you designed are looking just as good 48 hours later despite all the hugs, exposure to the elements, and being under heaters!
She even sent a video to prove it!
It’s the best endorsement.

This makes my heart sing, as I know the happy couple are still basking in all the delights of their wedding day and feeling all loved up ♥️. So much so they are sharing their love with us vendors.

Now let’s get the longest you can out of your flowers and enjoy their beauty 😍.

Here are my top 7 tips for caring for your flowers:
1. Unwrap your flowers and snip 2-3cm from the bottom of each stem.
2. Place your flowers in a clean vase with fresh water.
3. Remove any leaves that sit under the water level. Debris in water will reduce the life of your flowers.
4. Top up the water daily. Your flowers are thirsty.
5. Replace the water in your vase with fresh water every 2-3 days.
6. Keep your flowers away from direct heat (don’t place your flowers near the fireplace or heater outlet).
7. Keep your flowers away from the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene which ages flowers prematurely.
