Life as a Wedding Decorator!!!

I was looking through my emails this morning and came across this email that I received from a lovely couple that had the day of their lives and I thought I would share

We got married yesterday 8/24/2024. It was the most amazing day ever. Did we have a few hiccups yes, but we didn't let it get to us. To all of you getting married soon. Enjoy the ride! It is all worth it in the end. I am beyond elated!

YEAH!!! Hurricane Beryl, a force of nature! 🌪️💥

My husband always jokes that I'm more like a bulldozer, plowing through tasks with a vengeance.

So, here I am, Hurricane Beryl on bulldozer tracks, getting things done with a whirlwind of determination and a touch of chaos.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE KOOKABURRA

Over the last week, I’ve been talking about the amazing Aussie birds we have in our local parks. 🦜🌳 Tonight, I want to feature the kookaburra and its wacky laugh! 🐦🎶

These feathered comedians are not just any birds; they’re the true entertainers of the Aussie bush.

You’re out on a peaceful morning hike, the sun’s just peeking over the horizon, and suddenly, you hear it—the kookaburra’s iconic laugh.

It’s like the forest is having its own comedy show! 😂🌲

These birds have a laugh that can rival the best stand-up comedians. And trust me, it’s impossible not to smile when you hear it.

Kookaburras are unique for more than just their giggles.

They belong to the kingfisher family, but instead of fishing, they prefer a hearty diet of insects, small reptiles, and even the occasional mouse. 🐭🍽️

Very diverse tastes! And they’ve got that distinctive "mask" across their eyes, giving them a bit of a superhero vibe. 🦸‍♂️ A bit like Batman

One of the coolest things about kookaburras is their family life. They’re all about community. These birds love to stick together in tight-knit family groups, and the older siblings often help raise the younger chicks.

It’s like having a built-in babysitting service! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 And as a mum, it sounds pretty cool to me.

Kookaburras are quite the pranksters.

I was having a BBQ just out of Apollo Bay and this kookaburra sat in the tree ferns waiting for the sausages to be cooked and just before dish-up time this little fellow swooped down and stole dinner right off the hotplate.

💰 They’re curious and cheeky, always ready to surprise you.

So, next time you’re wandering through the bush 🌳 or even just your backyard, keep an ear out for that unmistakable laughter.

So, let’s talk kangaroos! 🦘

You know, those bouncy, tail-wagging icons of Australia that make you feel like you’re living in a nature documentary.

You have gone out to catch a bird or 2 in the morning light and there they are again, nibbling on a frosty blade of grass.

As a wildlife photographer, I’ve spent more time than I care to admit trying to capture these hopping wonders in action.

Picture this: It’s a crisp winter morning, and the sky is that perfect shade of blue.

You’re just about to snap the perfect photo of a bird flying past, when... BOING! 😲

That’s right, one of our hoppy friends decides to jump right into your shot, looking like it’s auditioning for that place on my wall.

Honestly, if I had a dollar for every time a kangaroo photobombed me with a bounce, I’d be rich enough to buy another lens for my collection. 💸

But let’s not forget their impressive leaps – seriously, it’s like they’ve got springs for legs. 🦘

Watching a kangaroo take off is like witnessing a furry rocket launch.

They stretch out those powerful legs, give a good bounce, and they’re off! It’s a sight to behold, especially against the backdrop of a clear winter sky. ❄️🌌

And here’s a fun fact: Kangaroos are incredibly strong. 💪

They’ve got the muscles to match their beauty. They can leap great distances, and their tails are like built-in kickstands. One time, I saw a kangaroo trying to figure out my camera bag. It didn’t manage to open it, but it sure gave it a good inspection before hopping away! 😂

With every photo shoot, capturing the gorgeous kangaroo is an added bonus.

My Little Friend, Mr Cockatoo ...

Let's talk about you! 🦜

You know, those screeching, wing-flapping bundles of joy that make you feel like you’re living in a jungle even if you’re just at your local park.

As a wildlife photographer, I’ve spent more time than I care to admit chasing these noisy divas for the perfect shot.

Picture this: It’s a crisp winter morning, in other words, I'm freezing my toes off. The sky is that perfect shade of blue. You’re just about to snap the perfect photo when... SQUAWK! 😲

That’s right, one of our feathery friends decides to announce its presence like it’s auditioning for "Australia’s Got Talent".

Honestly, if I had a dollar for every time a cockatoo photobombed me with a screech, I’d be rich enough to buy earplugs in bulk. 💸

But let’s not forget their wingspan – seriously, it’s like they’ve got their own built-in parachutes. 🪂 Watching a cockatoo take off is like witnessing a mini jet launch.

They stretch out those impressive wings, give a good flap, and they’re off!

It’s a sight to behold, especially against the backdrop of a clear winter sky. ❄️🌌

And here’s a fun fact: Cockatoos are incredibly intelligent. 🧠

They’ve got the brains to match their beauty.

They can solve puzzles, mimic sounds, and even use tools. 🛠️

I have heard many stories about these little guys like tyying to unscrew a camera tripod or 🛠️ make off with a lens cap or 2.

A quick barter with a cracker or 10 to get the little darling to drop that cap! 😂. Maybe carrying a pre-breakfast snack won't go astray.

So next time you’re out and about, keep an eye (and ear) out for these majestic creatures.
