Witness raffle for the win! 🥳⚡️

One of my fave inclusions when couples ask for a “fun” ceremony, is a witness raffle. Guests names go into a jar and the marrying couple each draw one out before the legal stuff is said.

(The deets? Well, Anyone over 18 years of age can go in the draw, I just need to check that they hear the legal stuff & are relatively sober). Easy.

SMASHED TO SMITHEREENS

I wish I was joking.

It’s finally time to share with the world the exact moment the witness raffle GLASS JAR slipped outta my hands and smashed into a thousand pieces. Right in the middle of Shari & Matt’s (otherwise beautiful) ceremony. I was MORTIFIED. Felt so horrible for “ruining” their day. Apologised profusely. Had a quick & quiet anxiety spiral in the car between ceremony & MCing their reception cos I was “such an idiot”. BUT the show had to go on.

I needn’t have beaten myself up so much: these beautiful humans laughed it off, reminded me it wasn’t the end of the world, and carried on having the best day ever. T’was a good lesson for me - a reminder that us celebrants are allowed to be human. And when you’re attracting the right couples (legends such as Matt & Shari who I adored from the get-go), they will understand that we’re human.

So while it’s been nearly 9 months and the PTSD is only just wearing off, I’m finally ready to laugh it off too. Oh, and don’t worry- my witness raffle jar is no longer GLASS (wtf was I thinking?!).

Thanks for having me Shari & Matt- and thanks .weddings for capturing the goods! 🤣🤣

Back at the wonderful next week for Kristi & Seb and I CANNOT WAIT ❤️

CLAIRE + JACKSON at ❤️

I had the pleasure of marrying one of the very first couples at The Grounds last year- sweethearts Claire & Jackson 🥀

It was an incredibly special day- intimate, romantic, whimsical & so full of love. Not only did I get to marry them, I stayed back to MC and help deliver their surprise baby announcement and gender reveal 💕

(Which, yep, in real life, you know means me waiting excitedly behind a wall, holding a balloon, silent, waiting for The Cue… making it all feel like magic)

Every now & then I get to marry people I know in my other life. So when workmate Trav asked if I’d marry him to his love Caity… well I was pretty excited. I also knew it would be an excellent opportunity to stir Travis up. Having great banter day to day at work, I knew Travi, his family and his mates would be cool with it - he’s a very funny guy.
