Happy New Year! 🍾 Let’s kick 2023 off by getting to know each other. My name is Christine and I’m the Founder & Director of the I Do Crew and sometimes you will find me Coordinating and Styling our weddings too. ⁠

I founded the I Do Crew 8+ years ago (after working in Wedding an Event education for over 10 years). When we started I had one very simple wish - to be the support couples need on their wedding day. ⁠And that's still what we do best.⁠

The people we work with are completely capable of planning and designing their own wedding day. They’re creative, innovative, organised and detail orientated. And they hire us, because whilst they can do all of the planning that needs to be done, they know they can't get married and Coordinate and Style their wedding at the same time. Our couples, want to be in the moment and enjoy their day and they want that for their friends and family too.⁠

✨The I Do Crew is unique in a number of ways - our focus on the day is one of the ways (although you start benefiting from our services as soon as you book - not just on the day). Another unique fact about us is that we deliver our services Australia wide. ⁠

If you’ve got 6 Months or less until your WEDDING DAY you might be asking yourself; how fast can I plan my wedding?

I’ve been asked this question quite a lot over the years and here’s my honest answer – as fast as you need to!

Most couples take the time they have available to them to plan their big day.

If you’re someone who completes projects ahead of deadlines, this won’t be you – you’ll have all but the last minute wedding planning tasks ticked off well in advance of your wedding day – but if you’re like a lot of the couples I work with, you’re more likely to fit wedding planning in around other commitments.

Most couples use the months available to them, to plan their wedding.

Which means…

YOU CAN PLAN A WEDDING IN THE TIME YOU’VE GOT. Even if that’s 6 months or less.

Just keep in mind that if you want your I Do’s to be legal you need a minimum of 30 days to apply for your license.

My express Wedding Planning Tips:

💫Start your wedding planning together – determine your vision and priorities for the day so you’re on the same page from the get go.

💫Get clear about what has to be done.

💫Set aside time in your calendar to work on your wedding.

💫Delegate! Whether that is dividing the list between the two of you or hiring a Wedding Day Manager, a little bit of help will go a long way.

💫Seek out vendor referrals. We offer our couples complimentary vendor referrals. But you can ask your friends and family too. Using a vendor who has been recommended to you will save a lot of time searching for the right one.

💫Create a dedicated email address for your wedding. Keeping all of your wedding related correspondence together in the one place is a simple timesaver.

💫Use an online wedding planning tool to help you keep track of all the details. Our Wedding Day Management clients get access to a suite of online planning tools that save them a lot of time and keep all of their wedding planning organised.

First Look: Will & Elizabeth (and little Clementine) ⁠

This absolutely gorgeous couple, who were a joy to work with, got hitched on 30 April at the Assembly Yard in Fremantle with their baby girl (almost stealing the show).⁠

Question of the Week: When do we cut the cake?⁠

I love, ‘when do we do what’ questions because these days the answer is; when do you want to do it? ⁠
The two of you are in the driver seat and if you want to have a Cocktail Party ahead of saying your i-do’s at midnight or even on sunrise, you go for it (actually that sounds like a lot of fun – whose game?).⁠

For most weddings the best way to approach this question is to consider the activity in terms of the other elements of the day and also what’s important to you. Lately we’ve had a lot of couples choosing to cut the cake as they walk into the reception and then following this with the first dance then speeches whilst entrees are served? ⁠

Why? ⁠

Because the couple wants the formalities out of the way so they can relax and enjoy their reception and have lots of time to dance the night away. ⁠

Sometimes cutting the cake early works best because it’s going to be served for dessert and the caterers need it back in the kitchen early enough to cut it and plate it up.⁠
Answering scheduling questions like these can get tricky which is where working with us can really help. ⁠

Here's your first look at Megan & Owain's Wedding which took place on Easter Thursday, earlier this year. ⁠

Their beautiful Ceremony was held on the Benelong Lawn at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney, with the Sydney Opera House in the background - and, beneath this lovely Arbour which was made by Megan and set up expertly with florals by the I Do Crew.⁠

Styling and Set up/Pack down for both the Ceremony and Reception was done by Fiona & Alistair for the I Do Crew.⁠

drove a kombi to marry my favourite human barefoot on the top of a mountain after a herd of goats got loose & tried to eat the arbour, ate endless wood fired pizzas from a truck in a paddock, never didn’t have a glass of Prosecco in my hand, & danced the night away in a whimsical boho haven we built & styled together from scratch... with the help of a bohemians dream florist . and i wouldn’t change a single thing. 🤍 ⁠

you’re a freaking legend. you made two introverted Scorpios terrified of being the centre of attention feel like we were the only two people on the mountain with you. seeing you waiting for me with a big smile as we pulled up to the farm felt like seeing an old friend & I instantly felt better. we can’t stop talking about you & the ceremony you created for us. 🤙🏼⁠

YOU’RE JUST STUNNING. thank you for rounding up all the goats after they went all Steve McQueen 20 minutes before the wedding. 🐐 We hope you don’t mind us coming back to visit like ALL the time!!⁠

Give me a wedding amongst the gum trees - lots of gum trees!!⁠

Here's a first look at the Wedding of Tim & Hannah which took place at the most gorgeous property in Yass over the Easter weekend. The property belongs to close family friends of Hannah's family.⁠

I love weddings set in the Australian bush but this one was extra special - the homestead & surrounding property was gorgeous and has been owned by the one family for generations. Our beautiful and lovely bride Hannah grew up spending holidays and weekends at this property and it's where she always imagined getting married and so she did - to another lovely human, Tim.⁠

One of the I Do Crew's jobs was to use the gum leaves you see behind Hannah, Tim and their Wedding Party, to create table runners for their reception tables which were set up outside under a canopy of stars.⁠

I can't thank Tim and Hannah enough for finding us - it was such a joyful day, set against an amazing landscape.⁠

Let's talk about Signage for your Wedding (this cute sign is from the wedding of Sabita and Julian at 🖤).

Now me, I love a good wedding sign.

What about you? Let me know your thoughts on wedding signs below. 📣

I especially like signage that let's the guests know that their in the right place (the welcome sign), where to go (the directional sign), where to put their t**h (seating chart) and what they'll be drinking (the bar sign).

You can also have signs telling your guests what you do and don't want them to do (no photos please - at your Ceremony for example), or just to set the mood (a line from your favourite song). Oh and of course there is the bathroom sign ➡️

But my favourite is the Event Order sign. What I really love about this sign is that it gets guests in the mood for what's in store for them. And people tend to like to know what's coming. What time can I get a drink, when are we eating and when will I be busting my moves on the dance floor??? 💃

Here's some tips from us for a getting your Event Order sign right:

1. Pick 4 or 5 key moments from Ceremony to last drinks to plot along a timeline.
2. Find yourself someone a graphic designer who does signage - icons and a little bit of text makes for a good Event Order sign.
3. Consider where to place your sign for maximum impact. If your Ceremony and Reception are within the one room they work really well at the entrance and could replace a Welcome sign. If you're Ceremony is at another venue you might choose to just have the sign at your Reception and start the timeline from Cocktail Hour.
4. Remember that you want to excite your guests about what's coming up so just include enough information to do that - you don't have to give all the little surprises you have for them away just yet.
5. Consider the overall style or theme of your wedding and carry this across to all of your signage including this one. And bring your personality into it - your Event Sign should makes guests feel as though you're talking to them.

⌚ When it comes to Weddings and timelines I find that it's usually the special ‘moments’ that derail the timing of the day rather than the significant events. ⁠

By moments I mean, getting ready with your mates on the morning of your wedding, the family photo session 📷after the Ceremony or Speeches during the Reception. 🎤⁠

And whilst no one wants their day to be run like a military exercise, if too many ‘moments’ take more time than was allowed for, other things within the day get compromised – like time on the dance floor with your Besties after all the formalities are completed. 💃🏽🕺⁠

And what about setting up your Centrepieces and personal decor (wishing well, place-cards, signage and more) at your Reception ❓❓❓⁠

We are!⁠

You can DIY so many elements of your wedding but you can't be in two places at the same time. Which is where our Set up and Pack down Crews come in.⁠

Whilst Megan & Owain got ready, got married and celebrated with friends and family, our Crew set up their Ceremony on the Benelong Lawn at before whipping over to to set up their Centrepieces and other personal decor for their Reception. ⁠

Our talented Stylist Fiona was also there to ensure everything looked perfect and was positioned correctly too.

And, so Megan & Owain could enjoy their Wedding night, we returned and packed everything down and delivered it back to their home address.⁠
