50 years ago today, the Attorney general was given the ability to appoint a civil celebrant for the very first time (as opposed to a religious celebrant). We’ve come a long way since Lois D’Arcy was appointed and I for one am very proud to offer this as a service to couples. Over 80% of marriages are now authorised by civil celebrants and I think word has gotten out that it’s the best gig ever because there are now over 9000 of us celebrants in Australia! How are we going to pave the way for the next 50 years?

Clearing out the drafts and found this from our holiday in January! For the first time in a really long time, we took time out. A few days away (a few weeks back) without it being for work. We celebrated our engagement, watched a bit of Netflix and really just hit pause. It’s a funny feeling when you give yourself permission to relax and not work.
