We’re looking for more people to join our volunteer team to create the 2025 Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival.

The festival committee encompasses people of all ages, skills, and availability. We can work with your availability to find a role that interests and suits you!

A major role that we would love to create a new team for is Site Management. If you have amazing logistics and organisational skills that you’d like to put towards helping your community, we’d love to hear from you.

Ideally a team role, it encompasses;

• creating and tweaking the site layout (in conjunction with other key people)
• working with our stalls coordinator to allocate sites
• pre- planning site set up including the borrowing of tables, chair etc
• coordination (and delegation if necessary) of site mark up
• coordinating site set up and pack down
• delegating roles to ensure all the appropriate permits and site checks are in place

While the role sounds large we have a lot systems in place with timelines and tasks laid out that have been built upon over the past few years and the site manager isn’t expected to take every task on. Ideally volunteers will be able to join the team in August, however a lot of the role takes place between January - March.

Uncle Shane Charles is a Wurundjeri, Boon Wurrung and Yorta Yorta Elder who is a highly experienced and inspirational Aboriginal leader with experience across a range of sectors including education and training, justice, and cultural heritage within both Aboriginal and mainstream organisations.

Uncle Shane has recently been elected as a member of the First Peoples' Assembly, is co-Chair of Reconcilliation Victoria, and has spent over a decade in the area as a founding member of HICSA, now Oonah Health & Community Services Aboriginal Corporation.

He is a passionate advocate for reconciliation who enjoys sharing cultural knowledge to make a difference. This is fantastic opportunity to hear from such a respected member of the community.

This Sunday, the very popular Mt Evelyn Street Party returns and with it so does Brian Herlihy’s Chess Simul, where Brian plays 10 games of chess with anyone up to the challenge, simultaneously.

He will be set up to play ten games of chess at the same time, affectionately known as a "Chess Simul", at 11am and 2pm at the during the Mount Evelyn Street Party.

How to enter?

Simply post a photo of your view of Mt Evelyn on Facebook or Instagram and , or upload your photo on our website. https://www.mtevelynstreetparty.com

The competition will be open until 5pm Sunday 22 October. We will then collate the top three photographs and post online for the public to vote on. That will close at 5pm Saturday 28 October.

Prizes

The prize will be $100 for first prize, $60 for second and $40 for third.

The classic car show is on again tin 2023!

Come and see our claissic's in their convoy down Wray Cres on Sunday morning from 9.30AM. The best vantage point for this static car show is the corner of Birmingham Rd and Wray Cres! There will also be custom cars from the 50's, 60's and 70's+ on display in the bottom carpark opposite the post office during the street party, all day from 10AM. So click "Going" to our online event and get inspired by these majestic machines

(Due to limited space this year we are NOT taking expressions of interest from car clubs). The car show is supported by the team at Coffee and Cars Mt Evelyn.

Happy Birthday, Pia Punchy Nesvara! 😀
Pia is the 4th member of our team and is presently on the trip of a lifetime, in her ancestral homeland of Chile making music with her cousin. If she ever returns from this incredible experience 🙏 we'll be stoked to have her back!

Pia came to us thanks to Jeremy Angerson, with whom she runs the Big Dreams Market, a place that is close to Pia's heart. On the CR team, she works predominantly with Kofi Kunkpe Music - kofikunkpe.com supporting the business needs of Kofi so that he can concentrate on what he does best (and does he ever!).

Pia is a kind and compassionate soul, who values being able to back up another musician in building the business behind the craft. She throws herself into projects with passion and has a knack for connecting with others with a gentle enthusiasm.
