Happy Birthday Renae!
You already know I thought I’d missed it 🫣 so I can only try this feeble attempt at a recovery birthday post. 😆 Renae is the one here who remembers these things! And lots of other things that I forget too. Now we’re transitioning to accommodate Renae’s new role as Coordinator of Mooroolbark Community House and I’m already missing my right hand! But she’ll still be with us on Fridays and I’m so grateful for that. 🙏
I hope you have a beautiful day today and more so, an amazing year ahead. Happy birthday Renae Jones 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🤩 - Yolande

It has been a busy year for Cumulus Rising as we work on several local projects, and we have some exciting changes coming up that we’d love to share.

Cumulus Rising is proud to have provided coordination and support to the Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival for 12+ years. Our most recent festival coordinator, Ash Clingin, welcomed her second child into the world a few months back and will be spending much needed time with her family. We wish Ash all the best with her expanded family!

Moving into the festival coordinator role is Danielle Brown. Danielle has been a festival volunteer for the past two festivals running the popular kids activity tent, and taking care of OHS. We look forward to continuing to support the festival and are excited to see what Danielle brings to the role. Outside of Cumulus Rising Danielle can also be found working at CIRE in a training role.

Another project we are proud to be a part of is Shop16 Mooroolbark Community Connect. Renae Jones has undertaken the coordinator role since April 2022 however she is moving on to a new opportunity as the Community Development Coordinator for Mooroolbark’s new Community House. While Renae’s new role is external to Cumulus Rising, she isn’t leaving us all together and will still be working on projects for the Mooroolbark Traders and Community Group such as upcoming Christmas in Mooroolbark (her personal favourite), marketing, and maintaining Mooroolbark’s website. Renae is also still in her volunteer role as Celebrate Mooroolbark festival President.

Taking up the reigns for the Shop 16 coordination is Beck Carter. Beck is passionate about community and helping people and is already much loved in the space as the Friday volunteer. Shop 16 will work closely with the new community house to help meet the needs of the community, and we look forward to seeing what lies ahead under Beck’s direction. Beck officially takes over the first week of Term Four, initially on Fridays but potentially adding an extra day. Beck will also work with Renae to bring Christmas to life.

Fun fact! Both Danielle and Beck were work placement students in Shop 16 to complete their qualifications.

Yolande, our amazing founder and Director, is currently bringing the streets of Mooroolbark alive with several street artworks completed this past year, and the lane way rejuvenation project is underway. She works closely with the Mooroolbark Traders and Community group, helping to create a shopping precinct Mooroolbark can feel proud of. She also oversees the rest of us providing mentorship, expertise, and support. Yolande is a bit sneaky and hasn’t managed to be in a photo lately - we will rectify this for our next update.

We’re looking for more people to join our volunteer team to create the 2025 Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival.

The festival committee encompasses people of all ages, skills, and availability. We can work with your availability to find a role that interests and suits you!

A major role that we would love to create a new team for is Site Management. If you have amazing logistics and organisational skills that you’d like to put towards helping your community, we’d love to hear from you.

Ideally a team role, it encompasses;

• creating and tweaking the site layout (in conjunction with other key people)
• working with our stalls coordinator to allocate sites
• pre- planning site set up including the borrowing of tables, chair etc
• coordination (and delegation if necessary) of site mark up
• coordinating site set up and pack down
• delegating roles to ensure all the appropriate permits and site checks are in place

While the role sounds large we have a lot systems in place with timelines and tasks laid out that have been built upon over the past few years and the site manager isn’t expected to take every task on. Ideally volunteers will be able to join the team in August, however a lot of the role takes place between January - March.

If you would like to know more send an email to [email protected] or message the page.

Thank you!
