The first Poppy and Larkspur buds.
We haven’t had much luck with Poppies. We got seedlings earlier in the year that struggled from too hot transport and never recovered.
I then sowed a heap of seeds which had a great strike rate. I planted out several hundred but something repeatedly ate them. Every time they reshot it came back and ate them back to the dirt again. There is only 8 that have survived.

We’ve had a good crop of pumpkins this year. Because we let them ripen on the vine they are a deep rich colour and better flavour. You can find them at John Street Foodworks.

The bees were super active this morning. Check out the pollen they’ve collected on their back legs and them working together to try and get into the snapdragons.

We’re very pleased to see the ducks back. Normally they are only on the bottom dams but these ones have settled up the top dam. They are great pest control.

The possum has been enjoying one of the pumpkins. It’s unusual for them to come back to the same pumpkin more than once. In the past they have just taken some out of a new one each night.

The cornflowers and stock loved the rain. We don’t usually do mixed gardens but Dave wasn’t wearing his glasses and didn’t notice that there were stock seedlings in the end of the cornflower tray when he was planting them out. It will be a good experiment though as we don’t usually plant stock in full sun.

There’s not many yet but I’m absolutely in love with the two carnations we’re trialling. The scent is amazing!!!!!

Flower numbers are very low at the moment. Hopefully with a few warmer nights and some rain we’ll be back to better numbers at the end of the week.

The animals have been at it again.
One of the goats has been getting out and has eaten a whole bed of Queen Anne’s Lace. Presumably the hares have found a way in through our fencing and ate hundreds of sunflowers over the last 2 nights. 😩

Not the most stunning of Chrysanthemum and technically not a cut flower variety but it has a gorgeous scent. It originally came from a cutting from my Mother’s garden. It flowers prolifically but has spindly stems that makes it really hard to grow straight.
Hope you are enjoying them in the bunches.

This dahlia missed the memo that it’s time to die off. It’s covered in long stem buds. It’s only a small single but I love seeing it’s pop of colour in the patch each morning.
