I first began making at a young age, I remember building swords out of scrap wood found lying around the garden as well as Archery bows made from bamboo found on the side of our local creek. The feeling that surrounded a successful build is a feeling I still feel to this day when I complete or work on a project and has been a drive for me ever since.
Over the years I began creating and making costumes and props for friends and for myself, utilizing materials like home made paper mache’ out of flour and water. Making Knight’s Armour out of cardboard, paper mache’ and paint from the Helm & Armour to the Sword & it’s scabbard, I have always loved creating things from scratch and over the years as I changed the mediums I used from cardboard to leather, wood and metal and as a result my projects became more elaborate and likewise the feeling a job well done increased as well.
One of the hidden treasures for me in regards to creating props and weapons for Cosplayers and collectors was the implementation of training weapons into the mix. I have been training in martial arts since I was 5 years old and as I changed styles over the years I have become familiar with different training weapons and a need for quality weapons used for training that are not as dangerous as current steel training weapons. So I began making training weapons out of Aluminium & Polyurethane sheeting, this now has become an integral part of DeMan Props.
Recently I began working in EVA foam & PVC and have found it almost as versatile as all of the previous mediums put together. Coupled with my 3D modelling skills learned from my Diploma in Interactive gaming I am able to 3D model custom pieces and print them using my 3D printer to truly create one of a kind designs for my customers.
