Livestream: Funeral
Location: St. Leonard’s Catholic Church, Naremburn
Audio: Sign of the Times (Cello Instrumental)
Artist: Vesislava

Our livestreams often include coverage of inside as well as outside the venue, giving the online viewer a sense of “being there in person”.

For the past year, we incorporated into our livestreams a triple-screen setup where an online viewer can see 3 different angles - on one screen. This setup has received immense positive feedback not only from families but from the online viewers as well.

Funeral livestream at St. John Catholic Church, Narraweena with Blessed Funerals. During our livestreams, we make it a point to capture flower arrangements as well as any memorabilia that the family has placed to remember their loved one.

We believe that capturing these elements in our livestreams not only gives our online viewers a front seat in the venue, but it also gives the grieving family a lasting visual reminder of the love, support and respect received, which plays an important part of their grieving process.

We recently livestreamed a beautiful funeral service at St Brigid's Parish, Coogee.

Here is the feedback we received from the family - “Caktus Productions did such a great job filming my Grandmothers funeral for friends and family across the world. The website and message system was really easy to use - it was lovely receiving the messages from viewers. We couldn't recommend Sean's work enough! Thank you for the lasting memories Sean!”

Turn up the volume to listen to the beautiful voices of the father-daughter duo. We hope to have Jessa Verone on our Muso’s Café soon.

Music can set the tone for a service, whether it’s a solemn, reflective mood or a celebration of the deceased’s life.

During our funeral livestreams, we have captured voices of professional vocalists and talented family members. And on this occasion, we captured the calming voice of Fr Aliki Langi sm, the Assistant Priest of Holy Name of Mary Parish who played the ukulele and chanted the hymn “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord”.

In Catholic tradition, prayers for the dead are a way of expressing love and concern for those who have passed away. Singing or reciting this hymn can bring comfort to those mourning the loss of loved ones, as it reaffirms the belief in God's mercy and the promise of eternal life. It is a reminder that death is not the end, but a transition to a new and everlasting existence with God.

During the livestream, our advanced website analytics informed us that we were livestreaming to 319 devices/families from Australia, UK, Hong Kong, US, New Zealand, South Africa, Colombia, Singapore, France, Greece, Austria and Sweden.

Worked alongside with Matt from Champion Creative media, on the day we livestreamed the funeral of the well-known Edward (Ted) Blackwood OAM.

Matt is not only an ace photographer, but a fantastic videographer who filmed and edited these videos that were played during the service.

What is special about these videos?

These videos were a huge surprise to everyone, both at the venue as well as family and friends who watched online.

The first video introduces Ted and some of his achievements and the second video had some of Ted’s memories followed by a special message.

Both videos have been merged as one, as FB does not allow upload of 2 videos in one post.

Nicely done Matt, looking forward to working with you in the near future 👍

Happy to announce that we just received our one hundreth 5-Star Google review and this review is from the family of the well-known Edward (Ted) Blackwood OAM, who passed away on the 20th June 2024. He was 93 years old. He was very active and well known in The Northern Beaches Community. In the 1960’s he was instrumental in establishing The Narrabeen Youth Club with the Ted Blackwood Youth and Community Centre named in his honour in 1979.

Excerpt from the review -

“Knowing this would be a big event, attended by many, and viewed by many more we wanted a professional presentation.

Sean from Caktus Productions came highly recommended. He was extremely helpful and most knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the Livestream set up and was so patient and understanding in guiding us through the process. Post production Sean’s advice continued and he was very generous with his time and very passionate and enthusiastic in delivering a top-quality production which we are proud to keep.

We have had the most positive feedback from the Funeral attendees and those who watched it locally and from overseas. The multiple cameras enhanced the viewing experience. The video quality and sound were excellent including additional video clips and songs which he seamlessly incorporated into the Livestream.

It was a superb showcase celebrating the long and eventful life of our beloved dad.

Thank you, Sean, for your kindness, your expertise and willingness to produce such a high-quality production. A treasured memory for our family and all who knew Ted.

The Walsh and Blackwood Families.”

Since the past 4 years of livestreaming funerals and weddings, we have received many 5-star Google reviews from families and couples that we have helped. Very often the feedback we hear is, “Our family and friends felt like they were virtually sitting with us during the service, as they could see and hear everything, both inside as well as outside the venue”.

We attribute this to our true-multiple-camera setup. We discreetly place cameras at different locations of the venue giving us the ability to switch to the camera that has the most “action”, giving the online viewer a better view of the service.

Here is one of our recent Google reviews that we received, when we livestreamed at St Anthony's Parish, Marsfield with the White Lady Funerals

“I cannot recommend Caktus Productions highly enough, Sean was an absolute pleasure to deal with and arranged the video streaming of my dad’s funeral with absolute professionalism and friendly service. The result was beautiful and our family around the world were able to watch dad’s service, with many of them telling us it felt like they were there.

The cost was also very reasonable given the joy it bought to my family that could not attend …

I would give them 6 stars if I could, excellent… excellent… excellent!!!”

Watch the true-multiple-angles in this video that ends with outside coverage until the hearse leaves the venue.

We livestreamed this funeral mass at St Aloysius Catholic Church, Cronulla. And it was a pleasure recording the pitch perfect voice of Gaetano Bonfante. A voice that resonated at the funeral service offering solace, while the poignant melodies honoured the dearly departed, and soothed the hearts of everyone in the church as well as those listening online.

Having a vocalist at a funeral service can be a deeply moving and comforting experience for many. However, the decision ultimately depends on the preference of the family and sometimes the wishes of the deceased. Some might prefer a quieter, more introspective service without music, while others might find great value in the presence of a vocalist.

We recently livestreamed a funeral and burial service at Holy Cross Catholic Church located in the Central Coast. And were suitably impressed with the unition of the congregation singing the hymn “Here I am Lord”. The voices blended together, filling the church with a harmonious and heartfelt sound.

"Here I Am, Lord" is a Christian hymn composed by Dan Schutte in 1981. Its lyrics and melody have made it a beloved song in various Christian denominations. The hymn has become a staple in liturgical services, often used in ordinations, mission services, and funerals. Its message of answering God's call resonates deeply with many, making it a powerful anthem of faith and service.

The power of hundreds of voices singing as one created a deeply moving and spiritual experience that we had to share with everyone.

Picture this, March 2020 and with the Holy Week and Easter just around the corner, parishes all over Australia and the world had to break the news to their parishioners that the doors of the churches would be closed to the public.

Some churches took it in their stride, setting up make shift webcams and emailing their database of parishioners the (buzz word alert) Zoom link.

St Ambrose Parish, Concord West wasn’t equipped for this change. We saw this as an opportunity to use our technical knowledge and do Gods work. We approached Fr Brian and Fr Chaminda with what seemed like a crazy idea.

Being an avid lover of technology, especially broadcasting, Fr Chaminda welcomed the idea of livestreaming and thus Caktus Productions stepped into what was then unknown territory – livestreaming.

This April marks 4 year since we have been live streaming for our parish. We live streamed the Saturday vigil mass for 14 months and watched how parishioners embraced this new way of worship.

We stopped live streaming the Saturday Vigil mass on the 12th June 2022 after the churches opened their doors and restrictions were eased.

Till this day we continue to livestream all major feast day masses from St Ambrose Church, as we did during the Easter week 2024.

Love what we do ❤

Holy Saturday is the third day of the Sacred Paschal Triduum and it is the Saturday before Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord. The Easter Vigil begins between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise on Easter Sunday.

The Easter Vigil mass consists of four parts:

1. Preparation and Lighting of the Candle
2. Liturgy of the Word
3. Liturgy of Baptism
4. Liturgy of the Eucharist

Preparation and Lighting of the Candle:
The lighting of the candle symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, echoing the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Paschal candle (“Christ Candle”) will be blessed by Fr Chaminda outside the church. After cutting a cross into the candle, he makes the Greek letter Alpha above the cross, the letter Omega below it, and the four numerals of the current year between the arms of the cross. The Paschal candle will then be carried in a procession into the darkened church, gradually illuminating the entire church.

The Paschal Candle is the symbol of the "light of Christ, rising in glory," scattering the "darkness of our hearts and minds." Jesus is the light of the world.

Liturgy of the Word:
One of the unique aspects of the Easter Vigil is the recounting of the outstanding deeds of the history of salvation. These deeds are related in seven readings from the Old Testament chosen from the law and the prophets and two readings from the New Testament, namely from the apostles and from the gospel. Thus, the Lord "beginning with Moses and all the prophets" meets us once again on our journey and, opening up our minds and hearts, prepares us to share in the breaking of the bread and the drinking of the cup.

Liturgy of Baptism:
After the readings, the liturgy of Baptism begins. Christ's Passover and ours are given full expression when baptismal water is blessed in the font and when the Christian Initiation of Adults takes place at the Easter Vigil. While the new members of the community are baptized, the faithful join in renewing our promises as the whole community is sprinkled with the water as we remember our baptism.

Liturgy of the Eucharist:
Regarding the Eucharist, we are reminded "about the preciousness of so great a mystery, which is the climax of initiation and the center of the Christian life". The Easter Vigil comes to a climax in the sharing of the Eucharist.

May the peace of the risen Lord be with you and your family. 🙏

Happy Easter.
