Hi everyone,

It's Max from Monsieur Cocktail.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve spoken to you and truthfully, there’s been a massive amount of things changing behind the scenes at Monsieur Cocktail.

Mostly, I realised that I didn’t want to run the company - Monsieur Cocktail anymore.

This is for a lot of reasons, and I won’t bore you with all the details.

But where I found myself in mid-2022 is I actually just don’t want to do this anymore.

I loved Monsieur Cocktail. A lot.

But not more than being present, spending time with the people I love and feeling at peace with myself.

At the end of the day, I found Monsieur Cocktail’s success came at a cost to the things I really cared about.

Learning and expanding as a human being.

Finding stillness within myself to be content.

Connecting with people on a truly deep level.

Those are the things I truly value.

And when I realised this, I knew that the Monsieur Cocktail journey was over for me and there was a new journey to take on.

So today, I am sending this email as a thank you -

To my clients, thank you for embracing something new and different, thank you for supporting me and my wife and my business.

To my suppliers, thank you for making it possible to create an amazing experience for people and for helping me do some of my greatest work with cocktails.

To my network, thank you for connecting me to opportunities and other business people, for thinking of me, referring me and helping me.

I have learnt so much on this journey, and I am so grateful for everything I’ve learnt because of you.

Today is world vermouth day!
We are celebrating with one of our favourite cocktails: "The Adonis". It is a blend of vermouth, sherry and bitter. This cocktail was named after the 1884 Broadway show by William Gill called “Adonis,” often cited as the first Broadway musical. While the show was in production, the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel created this cocktail in its honour. Cheers

Happy International Women’s day! Today we would like to celebrate an iconic woman that has shaped cocktail culture over the last three centuries: Ada Coleman, one of only two women to have held the position of head bartender for 23 years at the iconic Savoy Hotel in London. While working at the Savoy, she invented the "Hanky Panky” cocktail.

"Uplifting Escape - I first met Max in one of the lockdowns in Melbourne when we could have one visitor at our home and my husband surprised me with face to face cocktail experience. It was so great what a pick me up and energy buzz, Max is a fantastic host, professional and fun! Since then we have been having some virtual cocktail experiences for special occasions and recently enjoying his signature cocktail box. My favourite is the Rabbit Hole! I love all the interactive props and surprises inside the box, it really takes me away to another world. It's a great deal, you can either share a box between 2 people or keep it all for yourself and get another one, the flavours are just too good too share.

TODAY IS BLOODY MARY NATIONAL DAY!
If you've been celebrating as we did, you probably need one of those today 🤣

The Bloody Mary is a typical "hair of the dog" drink, reputed to cure hangovers with its combination of a heavy vegetable base to settle the stomach, salt to replenish lost electrolytes, and alcohol to relieve head and body aches. Its reputation as a restorative beverage contributes to the popularity of the Bloody Mary in the morning and early afternoon, especially at brunches.

According to his granddaughter, the French bartender Fernand Petiot claimed to have invented the Bloody Mary in 1921, well before any of the later claims. He was working at the New York Bar in Paris, which later became Harry's New York Bar, a frequent Paris hangout for Ernest Hemingway.

When it comes to recipes, you indeed will find hundreds online, but would you leave your hangover cure in the hand of a self-proclaimed mixologist or trust your 17 years experienced Monsieur Cocktail?
