🌸 Celebrating Melanie 🌸
On 30th August, I had the honour of guiding a celebration of life service for Melanie — someone I first met back in 2019, as I was her celebrant when she married her love, Simone. When Simone reached out to tell me Melanie had passed, my heart broke a little. Their love was one of those deep, rare ones you could feel from the outside. 💔
Simone told me that Melanie would have wanted me there — and that the theme was “dress up + happy.” And wow, did everyone rise to that request! 120 people showed up in everything from giant T-Rex costumes to Hawaiian shirts, shark onesies, nuns, and even Pennywise. It was colourful, bold, and full of life — just like Melanie. 🦖🌺🤡
Simone took her time, waiting four weeks to plan this farewell so she could process her grief and give Melanie the send-off she truly deserved. The love and care in every detail spoke volumes.
In the days leading up to her passing, I felt Melanie’s presence so strongly — including the moment her wedding photo from six years ago flashed up randomly and unexpectedly on my phone. A little sign. A little reminder. 💫
Melanie — thank you for trusting me once again. Keep watching over Simone, Frankie, and even Cupcake the tarantula. You will be so deeply missed, and so deeply remembered. 🌈✨
