Spring has sprung at home in our fairy garden! 4 new little ducklings joined the family on Tuesday, as well as many other exciting things:
- a silvereye nest was discovered while pruning the Lilly pilly
- a friendly butcher bird is doing her best to pretend she's a pet (she's hoping to score some tasty treats, but we dont feed wild animals)
- the native yellow admiral butterflies are laying eggs on the stinging nettles
- the quenda are becoming gloriously plump with all the extra grubs and worms, so much so that one almost couldn't fit through the quenda tunnels we install underneath the fences in the garden (or maybe she was just very, very pregnant?) We had such a laugh watching her carefully squeeze her bottom through the tunnel 😂
- the 3 little chicks we've been hand raising are growing so fast that they're almost ready to move outside full time!
We've been busy neatening up the pathways, labeling the many different fruit trees, and making informational signs ready to welcome Costa Georgiadis and all the lucky guests coming to visit on the Edible Garden Adventure this Sunday. If you missed out on tickets don't fret, as we will be having a public open garden very soon too!
