We are proud to share that Kinda.forward has been nominated for the 2026 Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards, EPA Sustainability Award (Community category).

Kinda.forward brought together 500+ attendees, 46 contributors, and 135 partners at UTAS Inveresk in June, all exploring what a more sustainable Northern Tasmania could look like. This nomination reflects the work of everyone who showed up, shared ideas, and helped make the day happen.

Small steps. Big ripples. And proudly Tasmanian.

Over 500 people came through the doors of UTAS Inveresk on 27 June for Kinda.forward.

A choir had the whole room smiling before the day even properly started. A crochet cubby tucked into Sprouts Studio. A community tree that filled with colour as kids decorated leaves and added them one by one. Stallholders who spent the day in real conversation, not just standing behind a table.

It was hard work, more than we imagined. But standing in that room, watching this community show up for each other, is something we will not forget.

Our Kinda. Under the Stars Stargazing Night has proven so popular that it has now sold out.

For everyone joining us on the night, get ready for an evening under a dark Tasmanian sky. We will kick off with a short welcome before the Astronomical Association of Tasmania leads us through a presentation and a laser guide to the skies, followed by hands-on time with their telescopes. There will be a hot chocolate station to keep everyone warm, plus special activities for the little stargazers.

Thank you to the Astronomical Association of Tasmania and the Great Regional City Challenge for your support with hosting this event.

Please keep following our socials to stay up to date with all the community events we have planned for Launceston.

Introducing the I'm Kinda. Bored Jar.

For the "I'm bored..." moments these school holidays, grab a jar, jot down some activities, and let the kids choose one when they're getting a little restless.

A few to get yours started:
• Build a cubby out of whatever you can find
• Make mud pies and decorate them with leaves and flowers
• Collect ten different leaves and sort them by size
• Draw a picture using only things found in the garden
• Have a staring contest, no laughing allowed
• Build the tallest tower you can out of cushions
• Go on a colour hunt, find something for every colour of the rainbow
• Have a silent dance party, headphones only

What would you add to yours? Drop your favourites in the comments; we'd love to see them.

A card, a banner, and the small things that matter.

I received the most beautiful handwritten card from the New Horizons group, who sang and performed on the day. And the fabric banner that the amazing Sunny from InterWEave created for me during the event is now framed; it was far too special to simply pack away in a box with everything else.

There is something really beautiful about people who genuinely go out of their way to bring these small acts of kindness into someone else's day. I am greatly humbled by it.

Kinda. is better because of moments like these and because of everyone who brings the same generosity to what we're building together. What has grown from Kinda.forward feels like the beginning of something real.

A genuine community, not just an event that came and went. And I am so excited to continue building that alongside you. Thank you for being here for it.
