Floral foam - I used it for years when I worked for other florists. It was awful. Got in my eyes, under fingernails, had to hold my breath whilst opening a new box of the stuff to avoid breathing in the particles. It's a one use product - meaning once it's soaked up water & dries out - that's it. It doesn't rehydrate properly again. The holes created from the stems aren't fillable and getting rid of it - straight into the bin and all the excess water is FULL of microplastics that either get tipped down the drain or onto some patch of grass. I honestly can't believe it hasn't been banned yet. You think straws are bad - this stuff is 10x worse. Is it helpful for creating great floral designs? - sure is. Is it helpful for transportation?- yep. Is it quicker than cutting and forming chicken wire? - you bet but doing the right thing is often more difficult than the easy thing.
