An inspiring weekend spent sharing stories, cooking, laughing, writing and celebrating true hospitality, with a surprise afternoon Pine mushroom forage in Coolah Tops National Park.
Enormous thanks to Jillie and Will Arnott for hosting us at their breathtaking property ‘Coolah Creek’, to Barbara Sweeney for the incredible food memoir writing workshop and my fellow foodies Angela, Catherine, Susie, Holly and Meg. So much to digest, metaphorically and literally! 😊

Simple, special, seasonal.

Mrs Underwood is nurturing, uncomplicated and a little grandmotherly. Baking fresh every day, we’re for people who appreciate wholesome, homemade food. It’s a little like something you might come across in rural France.

While everybody’s asleep, Bec is here baking from 4:30am, getting the cabinet stocked for the day. There’s no chain of chefs or factory food; it’s just Bec. The menu is decided daily. Every day is different to yesterday.

In summer you’ll find a spinach tart with delicate herbs, baked goods fresh out of the oven and healthy but substantial salads. Chilly days bring winter braises, roasted root salads and hearty tartines. You’ll always find a superb coffee, made with beans locally roasted in Rozelle, and house made cakes and slices.

The pace here isn’t frenetic. Things are solid, reliable and dependable. Slow down a little bit, savour the meal as if a friend had made it for you, and enjoy your hiatus from a busy day.
