Lisa and Thomas got married on Saturday at Tom’s mum’s house with a small handful of their loved ones and it was just SO lovely, I tell ya.

I love marrying couples who are legit obsessed with each other and also clearly have a healthy, communicative and supportive relationship. Reminds me to keep my own standards up, yanno? Marriage isn’t a life box to tick, babes—it’s a celebration of something top tier, and if it’s anything less then are you sure you really want it?

Tom and Lisa? Top tier. ❤️‍🔥

They say when you know you know… and I knew when I first laid eyes on that it was the expo for me. 🥰 Absolutely stoked to announce that I’ll be one of a handful of invited vendors at Tassie’s inaugural non-traditional Til Death Wedding Expo!

I don’t think anything about the lil space I’m cultivating in this industry could be deemed traditional in any sense of the word. Just ask the guests who take one look at the purple-haired, tattooed, fat and funny babe up the front and think… for real? Are we sure this is the right person for the job?

Don’t worry. I‘ve won 98% of them over by the time I leave, through no effort of my own apart from doing my job (that I love and am good at) to the very best of my ability, every dang time for five years now. FIVE YEARS. 😳

Tell your friends. Especially the ones who are disgustingly in love but haven’t done anything legally binding about it yet. Reckon they’ll have a pretty fu***ng epic time under the Cathedral (lol) on Sunday 13th October with us. Subscribe to Til Death Wedding Expo’s mailing list to get access to early bird tickets THIS THURSDAY. 🔥✨

It’s one of the greatest freakin’ honours to be asked to officiate for couples who’ve been guests at one of your previous weddings—it’s only happened to be a few times so far and each time I’m absolutely chuffed, because it’s such a compliment?
Do they even know???

I sure hope Steph and Jan know, because after they got engaged on the same trip to Tassie as their friends’ wedding, they their friends’ celebrant (me) up and were like, “HEY you were so much fun but we live in Melbourne, who’s as much fun in Melbourne???” and I said, “Babes. Babes, please. I’m an AUSTRALIAN Marriage Celebrant, see you in June”.
(I’m pretty confident they know.)
But do they know just how much fun *I* had getting to tell THEIR story?
I HOPE SO 🤞 because it was a WHOLE LOT.

P.S. is a legend and I can’t WAIT to see her piccies!!!
P.P.S. is ALSO a legend and not only leant me her PA so I didn’t have to lug mine around the mainland BUT stayed around to roadie for me and help with the petal toss! I love our celecommunity 🥰

Where do I start with Yee Lin and Nicole’s day at ? It’s taken me six weeks to post our selfie because I don’t want to accept that it’s over. WHAT A PARTY. From their trio of mushroom cats attending in the form of cardboard cutouts, to the flashmob first dance (that had an almost-immediate do-over because Yee Lin’s mum was in the bathroom), to the pink pink pink theme—these two legends and their chosen few travelled from Singapore and beyond to celebrate their love in little ol’ nipaluna / Hobart and I feel SO lucky that they found me to be a part of it 💜

Now I’m just patiently waiting for them to move to WA so I can meet those mushrooms in person, and hang out with these two glorious (MARRIED!!!) humans again!

I had a big plan for a post about celebrating my 100th marriage but then it got TOO big and I got overwhelmed and the longer time went on the more pressure I felt. Social media, hey? And being a sole trader—on the side of a full time job, mind you—and all sorts of other things, so I’m just gonna skip right over that because I may be a ✨businesswoman✨ but also no I’m not, I’m just a Mem.

And this photo sneakily snapped of me and Nicole having a sweet celebratory and grateful moment on the other side of her and Yee Lin’s ceremony last month gives me all the warm fuzzies, and that’s what I’m really in this for.

I am so, so full of warm fuzzies after facilitating marriages for over 200 people in the world. How lucky am I? 💖

My 100th couple, Adrian and Eboni, just felt right. A sweet garden moment with a handful of nearest and dearest, the dress AND cake of Eboni’s dreams, plenty of giggles and lots of love—done exactly the way they wanted, just as it always should be. 💜

Sometimes I forget my selfie. It’s true. It happens. Sometimes I remember last minute and pull a quick save, but once in a blue moon, I just totally forget.

One time that happened was almost exactly a year ago, when I hung out with Izzy and Kyron to do their paperwork a few days before their party, because their party was happening the same weekend as (and I would be attending the latter and therefore unable to attend the former). Sweet solution reached AND I still got to marry these cuties.

…and then I got to celebrate their first anniversary with them when I ran into them at this year—AND got our selfie. What a delight to get to spend some bonus time with these legends! 🎶🥰🥳

*slaps roof* this early-mid February timeframe can fit so many anniversary dates in it 🚙

My spidey senses were tingling yesterday but I couldn’t remember what I was missing (and didn’t think to check my anniversary list because I’m still a little post-holiday rusty ok I’m old) until I saw Reanna wish James a happy first anniversary and I was like OH YEAH, THE ELEVENTH OF FEBRUARY. OF COURSE.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THESE MINT CONDITION COLLECTIBLES! What an excellent excuse to gaze upon the absolute greatest scene steal I’ve had yet at a wedding—arrival (casually strolled up mid-ceremony like Hey are we doing a thing here? Sweet, I’m in), timing (we’d literally just begun with important legal bits and were about to hit vows), presence (Olivia had the entire crowd in the palm of her tiny hand)… unbeatable combination.

Can’t wait to see you all at the next family wedding. Whenever that ends up being. I’m just an email away. 👀😏🥰

I’m co-opting my gorgeous pal Bianca’s post to point it specifically at your wedding day. IMAGINE. 💜

🚨 HOT BABES ALERT 🚨

Shaz and Lydia were originally gonna keep their ceremony to just their immediate family members before inviting the rest of their guests to their reception. Then they met me, and I was like, what if it was fun, though?

And by fun I mean I still made people cry but I also made them laugh, and that’s what my ceremonies are all about, tbqh. Taking you and your guests on your relationship 🎢 rollercoaster, and where the rollercoaster pulls up is the bit you’re doing right then and there with the whole “getting married” thing.

It’s my absolute favourite thing to do, I think.

Congratulations, Lydia and Shaz. Your rollercoaster deserved this celebration. 💖

LOOK AT THESE GORGEOUS THINGS 😍 Aidan and Dylan got hitched in Nan’s beautiful garden with mumma Kez on surprise co-celebrant duties with me, so I just got to do the legal bits after my warm-up and welcome before the cheeky handover—a blissful way to ease back into weddings post-holiday (there I go again) and pre-Mona Foma (aka busy times at the day job!), if I say so myself.

Can you believe I’ve done almost 100 ceremonies (SO CLOSE 🫣 Aidan and Dylan were #98, I’m freakin’ out!!! 🔥) and theirs was my very first co-celebranting? What an eye-opener! I’m glad to have one under my belt now. I’VE LIVED IT. Experience is so valuable and every box I get to tick off on this journey is like a little gold star.

Huh. What a concept. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a paperwork appointment with Steph and Jan yesterday, who saw me do my thing for their pals Eliza and Ben last year and said “well we’re gonna need her too, clearly” and in amongst those chats we realised that oh, it was exactly a year ago, actually, that I did my thing for Eliza and Ben!!!

Happy anniversary to these two incredibly smart and pretty globetrotters, and here’s a series of photos by .gazzignato (slightly dropped by me, don’t be cranky at me jon gazz 👉👈) I’ve titled “you know what you did, memily”.

😌 and I’d do it again.

I’M HOME AND MARRIAGE IS BACK ON THE AGENDA BAYBEE!!! Fran and Lloyd kicking off 2024 for me QUITE delightfully, if I do say so myself.

For a start: look at them. 10/10. Chefs kiss.

Even better: I’m collecting a set of siblings. I’m so serious. I’ve helped two of her brothers get married already, and at the most recent shindig (February last year) I was casually sizing up the remaining siblings, only to hear that Fran and Lloyd were having a big Indian wedding in June. RATS!
HOWEVER.
Only a month later, I got a new marriage enquiry… from Fran and Lloyd. Turns out their big Indian wedding (well, small by Indian standards, didn’t even go for a week smdh) was for party purposes, and they also planned to have an intimate legal ceremony with just their closest families in January. And naturally, they couldn’t do it without me.
BACK IN THE GAME.

So much so that I kinda planned my recent European holiday around getting back in time for the thing for them! And it was worth it, too. 10/10 would marry more family members in a heartbeat (wink wink just saying not looking at any of you).

“You’re pretty quiet on here for wedding season, Mem!”
Yeah mate I’m on the trip of a lifetime over in Europe, don’t wait up 😌

…I didn’t quite expect it to include a volcanic eruption in Iceland but the Reykjanes peninsula one isn’t anything like Eyjafjallajökull back in 2010 (and funnily enough, a very cool, calm and collected Eyjafjallajökull is just behind me here at Sólheimajökull’s glacier lake)—the locals are pretty chill about it so I did my best to be the same as I headed to Keflavik airport nice and early yesterday morning… then the plane flew right over the top of the rift, which was a very normal thing for my little Australian brain to process.

I just had a little chat to about it on the radio, so thought I’d better pop up some proof! And also a little hello. Hope you’re all enjoying summer as much as I’m enjoying freezing my butt off!

Happy holidays, and here’s to a 2024 full of some absolute killer/thriller love parties. 💜

ONE WHOLE YEAR OF MY GALS SLAFN! ❤️‍🔥

For sure one of the highlights of my celebrant life up at last November, even though the relentless biting winds elbowed us into the plan B yoga studio. One of my go-to lines about wedding days is that they’re not performances—it’s ok if they’re not perfect. Reality’s way better and comes with memories and anecdotes, like last-minute deciding to walk in together to ’s Unholy, and stumbling across a wombat while running around getting your just-married piccies (with absolute queen on the 📸 ).

Happy first anniversary, babefaces. I hope you’re treating yourselves extra good today. ❤️‍🔥

I’m obsessed with Olivia and Jason (and their super chill kiddo) rolling into Hobart on a cruise ship, having literally no other plans beyond getting off the boat and getting hitched in a park. (Super chill energy runs in the family, I reckon.)

Mad props and always love for the local celebrant crew, too—I put the call out to my celebuds (Olivia and Jason were like “unless we pick up some new besties on the boat can you bring some witnesses? Cheers 🤙”) and both and showed up for us. 10/10 support squad best bunch of “workmates”.

I can’t believe it was a whole year ago now that I was hiding out from the misty mizzle in the big shed up at with Emma and Sam and their 120+ nearest and dearest (and on piccies 📸). These two did celebratory shots to end their ceremony right before their party people fired off the most confetti I’ve ever seen in a concentrated space in my life. 🤩🥳

Then a couple of months later Emma casually dropped one of the most overwhelming lovely reviews I’ve ever read in my entire life, that I go back to every so often when I need a little ego boost.

Challenge to all my couples who had the best time ever with me and haven’t told the world via a Facebook or Google review: see if you can make me cry. 🥲 (In the good way please, haters go away thank you!!!)

There are so many freaking lovely wedding venues all over the state, it’s impossible for me to keep track of them all. Sometimes I get a new enquiry for a venue I haven’t been to in a little while and it reminds me of the amazing moments I’ve experienced there!

Ringleading for Indrani and Chris in December last year was so much fun, and just look at the beautiful surroundings. LUSH! 🥹 A beautiful and bright day captured by my beautiful and bright faves . 💜

Back in February 2021 I was hanging out at this iconic venue (it’s ) with Alex and Andrew (aka the A Team)…
…and just tonight I got asked to join a gorgeous new pair of marriers there in April next year! 🥳

It’s hard to say exactly which email is my favourite kind to receive. An enquiry from a new couple is always delightful. A surprise “sorry for replying six months down the track but thank you SO MUCH for everything you did” one always makes me grin. A notification of a new Google review gives me goosebumps.
But a “we met you, we love you… please will you marry us?” email is just so, SO jump up and down exciting. 🥰

When I first got into this gig, I was honestly surprised at how common it is for couples to elope down to Tassie, but four years in and it definitely feels normal now. Sometimes even more fun is when couples invite their loved ones to follow them down here for a destination wedding, which is exactly what Alex and Tom did for yesterday’s shenanigans at !

You’d think that only corresponding over email and video chat for over a year would make things a little weird when you finally get to hang out IRL, but I swear every time for me is just like “oh hey I know you! You’re the best! Let’s do this thing!” and I’ll never get over how easy that feeling it is. Especially when my couples have told me so many cute as heck things about their relationship 🥰

Anyway, all of this to say that I am once again feeling so lucky and grateful to get to play this role for people on one of the most exciting days of their lives, and Alex and Tom (and Lilliana and Lorelai, two of the coolest kids on the planet) have definitely got me in my feels today. Thank you for coercing all your favourite humans down to the best corner of the country, and here’s to coffees on the front deck of your future cottage together, you two. 💖

Going for a sponsorship with this piccy from .photography of signing over some bubbles for Dani and Michael last month.

This is also a sweet opportunity to talk about how much I love technology—the only actual paper involved in my marriages is the Form 15 that I’m legally required to present couples with following us and their witnesses signing! For everything else, we’re signing with an Apple Pencil on my iPad. We get those scribbles done first so you’re nice and warmed up in time for that paper copy!

Cannot take a single regular photo between us to save our lives and that’s just one of the many reasons why I’ll be adding Shane and Maggie to the “yes you paid me for my work but we’re gonna be friends now” pool 💅🏻

I spent an hour on Saturday evening pretending to be a friend of Shane’s before “starting the speeches” for their “third anniversary masquerade party” with a little “hey so I’m legally registered to solemnise marriages according to the law” mic drop moment before delivering a cheeky little ceremony that made their kids cry.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: best job ever. 🥰

Hey it was Emma and Mark’s second anniversary like three weeks ago! I need to be better at keeping tabs on these things so I can share more piccies like this! They both looked SUPER HOT and then I made them laugh like goobers, sucked in 😌

(I also made everyone cry, don’t worry. I like to run a full gamut of feels. They’re important.)

I’ve been to every but 2021 was probably the most special. Just for Ash and Bec reasons 💅🏻

Happy 2nd wedding anniversary, pals!
I’m tucked up cosy in my squad beanie today and reminiscing on our roaming ceremony adventure through Dark Downtown, which magically only involved a little bit of waiting around in lines and a lot of trust in me not leading you into dead ends or boring corners.

➕🔥✖️

Other years have all been pretty good but I’m not sure this one will ever be beaten—unless another excited and adventurous couple wants to do something weird for their wedding in the future. Let’s have fun with it!

About Me(m)

My name is Mem Rynne. Memily Rynne, if I’m showing my licence. You can call me Mem. And maybe your celebrant…?

I’m fat, I’m colourful, and I’m sassy. My pronouns are she/her. I love an oxford comma. I’m strongly pro-coriander, anti-raisin, and pro-pineapple-on-pizza. I’m not going to debate you if you disagree—this is a judgment free zone and everyone is allowed to love what (and who!) they love.

When I’m not making weddings and celebrations happen, I’m working hard to enhance the visitor experience as a gallery attendant and ticket support team member at the Museum of Old and New Art (or, if it’s mid-2020, I’m sitting around on my couch a lot and waiting for the gallery to open again—thanks heaps, novel coronavirus). I left Brisbane, Queensland for the cold weather of nipaluna/Hobart in 2012 and haven’t looked back (except some Christmases when my mum makes me). I love the written word (both reading it and writing it), I grew up in the theatre and have a soft spot for musicals, I would take a bullet for my baby niece, and I’m doing my best to keep my large collection of indoor plants and my senior cat alive on a daily basis.

You may be wondering why I’m bothering to mention these details—I believe it’s important to get a sense for who it is that you’re handing the mic over to when it comes to booking a celebrant for your big day. If you wanna fight me already, there’s probably a more suitable celebrant out there for you. If you wanna be pals, perfect. Let’s get drinks and hang out!
