They’re not shy when it comes to posing for the camera - just be sure to pay them in pats... and maybe a snack or two! 🌱

We’re heading into the cooler, wetter months which means Makuru has arrived 🌧️

At Tanah Marah, that means the grass is greener, the creek begins to flow again and the forest comes to life with an array of fungi in all different shapes and colours 🍄

Maanitj (White Tail Cockatoos) are busy cracking gumnuts that fall along the forest paths. If you listen closely, you might hear the birds calling as they pair up for the season ahead.

Cool mornings bring a soft mist over the lake, and in the evenings, there’s nothing better than sitting by your fire pit, toasting marshmallows under the stars ✨

Enjoy the serenity of the forest with our nature walk or head around the lake and explore the path through bushland 🌳

Keep an eye out for ducks on the lake and listen out for the birds in the trees 🦆🪶

We’re now in December which means we welcome Birak! This season is characterised by the rain easing off, warm weather beginning and the cool coastal afternoon breeze ☀️

While you’re travelling around The Margaret River Region, you might spot the moodja (Christmas tree) in full bloom with their beautiful golden flowers 🌼

At Tanah Marah, you’ll notice the birbool (paper bark trees) flowering and the wannang (peppermint flowers) have started to fall due to the lessening rain. Mugitj boonur (banksia tree) flowers are in full bloom and djilyara (bees) are flying around making the most of the sweet nectar 🐝

The nala ngankga (our sun) shines hotter and biritj (days) are longer - perfect for an afternoon on the Tanah Marah lake. At night, take a moment to look up at the cloudless morroo (dark skies) and enjoy some star (djinda) gazing ✨
