We recently celebrated Tanah Marah turning 5! 🥳

In 2018 the Curtin family began calling Tanah Marah home. A year later, after some serious renovation and restoration, Tanah Marah opened their doors.

We’ve put together some before and after photos of the works that have happened over the years including
🎾 Tennis court resurfacing
🛠️ Verandah build on the reception centre
☀️ Installation of solar panels
🪧 New property signage
🌳Lots of garden maintenance and tree planting

The chalets have had such a major transformation we thought it was best to share that journey with you in our next blog post (coming soon)!

We’ve met so many incredible guests, many becoming close friends, and have had such wonderful support from so many local businesses. We couldn’t have done it without you all!

We can’t wait to see what the next 5 years bring ❤️

Makuru is upon us, which is the cold and wettest time of the year ☔️

At Tanah Marah this means the paddocks are greener, purple wildflowers start to bloom and the Maanitj (White Tail Cockatoo) are eating the closed ho**ey nuts which you’ll see dotted along the paths in the forest 🌿

It’s traditionally the season of fertility, so you might notice the ducks starting to pair up and bird calls are sounding a little different 🦆

If you’re coming to stay with us soon, don’t forget to pack an extra jumper and some puddle friendly footwear so you can get out and do some wet weather exploring! If you prefer to stay in, you can rug up in one of our robes and stay cosy in your chalet 🌧️

“Our extended family of 23 stayed at Tanah Marah for 5 nights and a wedding and loved every second of it.
The chalets are beautiful, spacious, and cater well to families. They even have a chalet that is wheelchair accessible that we ended up needing and greatly appreciated.
The property is stunning, quiet and feels a world away from the busyness of town, even though it is such a short drive away.
Although there are many activities to do around Margaret River, we often found that we preferred to stay on the property. Watching the mist roll over the lake in the morning, playing family matches of tennis and croquet, walking in the Karri forest, enjoying the dogs, farm animals and birds and taking the boats out on the water were some highlights.
Tanah Marah is a family operation run by the most warm and welcoming people. We are so grateful to the Curtin family for making our stay so memorable. We feel lucky to have found this place and hope to be able to return someday.”

A few weekends ago we had the privilege of gathering on country to celebrate Bunuru Festival with Undalup Association Inc.

It was a beautiful day to connect with Wadandi culture and enjoy regional talent all while learning from our local elders.

It’s December which means we welcome Birak season! Birak is characterised by the colours orange, yellow, blue and green and a dry and hot climate ☀️

This means at Tanah Marah you’ll find be able to spot the maanitj (white tail cockatoo) and kaarak (red tail cockatoo) chewing away and dropping marri maada (ho**ey nuts). The balga (grass tree) starts to flower and the wannang (peppermint flowers) start to fall 🍃

While you’re travelling around you might even spot the moodja (Christmas tree) flowering their beautiful golden flowers 🌼

During Birak, the nala ngankga (our sun) shines hotter and biritj (days) are longer - perfect for an afternoon on the Tanah Marah lake 🛶
