Brisbane under Construction

Once again I ventured to our Mt Cootha early in the morning to get my fix (Coffee and Croissant)...and a few images . My friend JP experimented with his new toys (lenses) and we watched how the fog blanket rolled in from the west to eventually cover the whole CBD.

The 'Cooper Queen', a strong and dependable iron boat with a large, round, bilge-bottomed hull, was once the lifeblood of transportation in western Queensland's channel country, connecting people, livestock, and goods across Cooper's Creek. However, with the construction of a bridge over the creek in 1949, the boat was left high and dry in the mud flats, only to be rediscovered and given a new lease of life at the Whitula Gate Museum in Windorah, where it now serves as a poignant reminder of the region's storied past.

Mad Max II - The Road Warrior showcases the iconic V8 interceptor parked outside the Silverton hotel in the vast Australian outback of NSW. The vehicle was crafted using a 1975 Ford XB Falcon Hardtop as the base model. To emphasize the interceptor's striking design, I opted to wait for nightfall and capture the image with the complementary light of the moon. This photograph was taken in April 2009.

This now private residences was once the court house in remote Windorah (QLD). It was then Tarpot's little house (a retired drover/ringer) in the corner. Everything is a dustbowl out there but Tarpot used a sprinkler to keep his little yard green. Sadly, Tarpot passed away in 2018.

Brisbane Festival Riverfire did it again. An amazing crowd turned up to a superb fireworks display. What a joy.
This year's vantage point was again different and I think it really worked with the crowd in the foreground.

Baris Dance solo - a traditional dramatic dance, usually the first dance learned by young boys in Bali (Indonesia). This was an un-staged photoshoot during a local festival in Brisbane. The dancer (Gita) is extremely talented and passionate, such a pleasure to follow his dramatic, controlled dance and facial expressions.
The amazing costume for this dance includes multiple layers of coloured cloth stripes which hang from the dancers torso. The white pyramid-shaped head dress, made of many small and intricate pieces of white pearl-shell, signifies virtue, dignity and valour.
Honoured to have seen this solo dance here in Australia. Thank you Gita.

Here is something different to my usual landscape photography. I’ve had the absolute pleasure to photograph and video the Halloween Fashion Show organised by ZinaT Design. It was so much fun and a real pleasure to do something different with some awesome designs and modelling. Great job by all, you are all very passionate. I can’t wait to see you again at the after party.

Brisbane Festival 2022 started with a bang. This year I decided to put it all into a video, enjoy.

The weather started to clear up in the afternoon as thousands of people flocked to the city and all the vantage points.

I decided to check out Wilson’s Lookout and was lucky enough to have a nice view with my family.

A massive thank you to and for making this possible, bringing people together to enjoy the beauty, colours and sounds of this annual event.

The has a lot to offer of the coming 3 weeks so make sure you head out and enjoy.

I went to our local 'mountain' to watch the day unfolding. The city was painted by patchy fog traversing on the western side of the CBD. Behind the city and watching east we are witnessing the very first light of dawn about an hour before sunrise. The colours are still majestic, still the result of the volcanic ash high in the atmosphere from the Dec eruption of Tonga.

This sums up a cold but spectacular week in terms of sunsets in Brisbane. The rich colours are due to the volanic ash, as a result of the Tonga volanic eruption in the pacific in Dec21, which is lingering very high in the atmosphere. Despite these colours, lets not forget, it's pretty cold and windy atm, I have not seen a single cloud this week.

SS Dicky (Sunshine Coast). The 122 year old shipwreck was removed from the beach in 2015 due to safety concerns.
It was a major attraction for photographers and since it's removal I have not revisited the beach for breakfast.

A very special religious dawn service took me by surprise this morning. Mt Cootha was packed with people coming together singing and praying.
Not the usual for me but it was indeed quite moving. I mixed the video with a few of my images from very recently.
Enjoy and happy Easter to all of you.

VW Beetle in Silverton, a small village at the far west of New South Wales, Australia, 26 kilometres north-west of Broken Hill. At the 2016 census, Silverton had a population of 50…but hey, they have some cool stuff there. All thanks to MadMax with Mel Gibson and Tina Turner

A beautiful scene on a less populated Queensland beach. I very much doubt these trees are still there as I was lucky to find this image in my archives. Browsing through the archives is like taking a holiday :-)
Happy new year to you all.

Located in Neuhausen (near Schaffhausen) with a width of 150m and a height of 23m the Rhine Falls are considered Europes largest waterfall. The mighty rock in the middle is accessible by boat, take the stairway to get to the top. In spring and summer the melting snow in the alps makes a visit an unforgettable experience as huge amounts of water are roaring down.

Rather than being on the road snow chasing I went through some older images and this one I took exactly today 14 years ago (9-Jun-2007), back in the days when I was still excited to see some white dusting in Australia.
I know some of my friends and many others are down there right now to chase the 2021 even with forecast of 10-15cm tomorrow. Good luck all and stay safe.

Image taken yesterday as Brisbane was approached by a storm when all of a sudden the sky lightened up towards the west. How awesome was that light. The city cats deliberately left in the frame complementing the orange sky behind the CBD. Enjoy
