If you had to pick 1 dessert to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?

I’ll go first, it’s a hard choice but at the moment my answer would be apple crumble with chantilly cream 😋😋😋 I even made them in 2 serves so we have sensible portions and not just dig in to the big dish and regret it…..

Mmmmm donuts! Flash back Friday to those dreaded C word lockdown birthdays when we delivered party food parcels to our local family and friends and had a party on zoom. And what birthday party would be complete without donuts from Ritcho's Bakery! I can bake cakes and I’ve mastered bread rolls but donuts I always leave to the experts but we do our own dipping in strawberry donut icing and add sprinkles to suit a theme.
Having said that, I have to admit I do like a filled donut, what’s your favourite filling? I’ll go first - jam donut is the best 😋🥰

I love it when the batter goes a little further then I need, especially when it’s something a bit more speciality then our regular lines.
Tonight I have a GF (not coeliac friendly but GF ingredients have been used and all care taken to not have any cross contamination) vanilla cake and cupcake bento box up for grabs. All baked fresh this afternoon so will be lovely to eat in the next couple of days or would freeze for a future event if need be.

I just love wedding cakes….sometimes the flowers make it a bit of a challenge 😉 but we always get there in the end.

I had not been to this lovely coastal venue before but it did not disappoint, beautiful little old church turned in to a reception venue with accommodation on site too. It was a sweet way for the happy couple and their families to spend some time together before to big day.

Did you see the sneaky class I put on the website for you to book this week 😉

Choose between a flower shape or a rainbow template (you get to keep it too 🥰) when you book in for this Cake and Coffee sessions. AND…..there are 2 sessions to pick from - weeknight or weekend so all bases are covered!

With cake, decorations (such as macarons, wafer paper butterflies, sprinkles and mini choc blocks), piping tips, bags and buttercream all supplied for you to make you’re very own cake to take home at the end of the session.

I will also have starter kits for you to buy on the night to take home too so you can practice on your own cakes at home.

Thank you everyone who placed orders for Mother’s Day from us! It is now nap time before getting back in the kitchen to make more slices for tomorrow.
If you were lucky enough to receive a goodie box from us and want to savour it, make sure the slices and macarons go in the fridge in an airtight container to keep them fresh for a few days.
Get ready for the next round of classes to be announced and bring on Father’s Day, I’ve already got some grand ideas, for now it’s coffee and feet up time!

Below you will find the recipe my family use when we decide to have pancakes. I have typed it up for you but it is literally written on the family notice board so anyone can make it without asking me!!!

Unpopular opinion…..I hate lemon juice and sugar on my pancakes, I love lashings of honey (and if my boys are reading this - use the honey from Daylesford that’s on the bench) 😉

Where has the last 2 weeks gone? A fortnight ago I was baking this cake for a beautiful couple who, in their words told me they “forgot to get married”. They have raised their family and lived their wonderful lives together but decided to tie the knot and spend the next phase of their lives as husband and wife.

Top tip Tuesday!
Try to keep this guide in mind when you transport your cake. Sitting it on the seat is not ideal and bringing someone to hold it is just asking for trouble. As soon as you go over a bump or a sharp turn the instinct is to hold the box tighter but all you are doing is warming its foundation up from your body heat and damaging the sides when you go to grab the sides of the box. So remember cold car and floor space is your cake’s best friend when you need to transport it. And don’t forget to let us know if you have to travel a long distance with your cake, we can make sure we guide you in the best ways to keep it colder for long journeys.

What a weekend it has been! From delivering a wedding cake to this pretty part of the world to seeing many of you at the market yesterday; it is no wonder I slept well last night!!!
In case we haven’t met, hi… I’m Alana! I’m a mum of two, wife, daughter, retail worker part of the week, and baker of your special event cakes and treats. From 2017 I established our council registered home kitchen and have continued to love making and baking creative treats.
I come from a long line of bakers. Our family recipes have been refined over years - you will find our treats to be balanced in flavour, not too sweet and delicious! We make the family favourites we have enjoyed over generations and we know your family will love them too.
If it has made it to the list of products we offer, it has managed to get past our very particular taste testers, and their kids, before it makes the cut.
