Many people would have at some point in there lives have envisioned what their future proposal would look like. What would their partner say? Where would they be? Would there be a bended knee?

Some love the idea of carrying on century old traditions whilst others love to set new trends and do whatever is uniquely them.
There is no right or wrong answer here, as long as you know your audience. Not your social media audience, your partner 🙂

For the traditional romantics, seeing your partner on bended knee is the very first indication that signifies the moment you’re about to hear those four magical words.….”my shoelaces are undone”. just kidding 😏

Some people dream about this moment their whole lives so it’s good to have an understanding of what that vision looks liked.

Why do we propose on bended knee?

There is no proven connection, however many believe this gesture came from medieval times when knights would pledge to serve and honour their superiors on bended knee.

It does beg the question though, would this gesture still occur if we didn’t have social media and instant photos?
Is it really necessary for a modern day Knight in shining Armani?

Grand gestures or meaningful moments?
This all depends on your partner.
Some people thrive being in the limelight, whilst others, couldn’t think of anything worse than being proposed to in front of a flash mob or seeing their face on the big screen at a concert.

Whilst you may be excited about a particular idea, we must consider how the other person would feel about it.

Your partner might love to be proposed to as part of an elaborate act in Cirque du Soleil, however, if you’re more of an introvert, you may find this quite difficult and potentially not enjoy the experience yourself.
Having those excited nervous butterflies is a great feeling but feeling terrified and anxious on top of that isn’t ideal.

Whilst it’s very honourable to only focus on what would make your partner happy, it’s also important that a proposal is an exciting and enjoyable moment for both parties.

Covid has made us re invent the wheel when it comes to proposals. We have had to become accustomed to romantic restaurants and venues being closed, travel restrictions, cancelled holidays and delivery delays have made things a little difficult.
These obstacles though are inspiring us to get back to basics and remember what this beautiful occasion is all about.

Two people making a commitment to one another in a way that is meaningful and memorable to both.

There are still many creative ways we can design an intimate, meaningful proposal in the privacy of your own home or a grand gesture with the help of a little technology and contacts worldwide.
