This is the third week of our program. We welcome Katherine to our team. We are excited to see her grow and share our life skills with her.

So today is “WHAT IS IN YOUR PANTRY”.

This morning, we went to centacare to grab one of their
Food boxes from Oz Harvest, and we also brought stuff in our pantry that we usually have or need to use up.

We are going to get creative to see what we can come up with and post what we end up making.

Creating Change One Bite At A Time”

We had a second week of our program. This week was all about pasta and homemade healthy pizza.

- We discussed different brands of cheese, deli meats, pasta etc all the ingredients we used today. We even discovered ways of clever marketing on packaging.

- How to incorporate frozen vegetables to our pasta dish and how easy it was to just add it without making a fuss. We did a before and after taste and they preferred with vegetables.

- Pizzas the difference with doughy pizza/ dominos to using wraps which have less calories and we even timed how long it took to make. It was 5 minutes.

- Katherine even learnt to make a tropical fruit platter for everyone. She was so pleased she made it and how easy it was. She couldn’t stop smiling

- All ingredients we use is what everyone had at home, and all under $3 a serve how good is that.

- Also mum and daughter had an opportunity to connect through cooking and sharing. They all left with full belly and meals to be taken home for dinner. Elanora was so proud she made a dish that looked so good. We couldn’t believe she did that.

This is what it is all about walking away feeling empowered with more knowledge and skills.

Today we launch our new Project/program this has been on my heart to do for the last 8yrs but the last 6 months the deep desire/conviction has been heavy on my heart.

I have partnered with Sam from Family Focus who has also that drive to see family connect and also young people who are on foster/ residential care to find some kind of direction in their life. I have worked with Sam for a few years now with some of her young people that she support and the difference that has made and the life impacting experience they received.

We are excited nervous/ anxious and even unsure if we are just big dreamers to Create Change A Bite At A Time’ but we are going to give it a go.

We would love your support by just sharing and also encouraging us along the way. This is how Eat Real Started and 10yrs later we are still at it. We have seen so many positive changes that it out weighs all the turbulence time.

Looking sharp Lane ‘2 GUNS’ Moody

It has been a long fight camp for Lane. 10 weeks ago Lane made a decision to eat, sleep and train Muay Thai! More so than normal. This photo shows Lane, straight after weigh ins, physically and mentally ready to jump the ropes tomorrow night.

It has been made so much easier with the help of Eat Real Cairns and Elsa supporting Lane with nutritionally dense foods! Lane cannot thank Elsa enough for getting him ready for this. Lane also cannot thank his gym, DF.Gym, and his coaches to get him ready. Lane is incredibly lucky to have such amazing people to help raise him to be who he is today!

Tomorrow night he jumps the ropes to fight for the WMO Aus Jnr Title holder. Good luck to all the fighters and don’t forget, there will be no live streaming so you will have to jump on to livecombatsports.com.au to watch the fights.

Sorry l’ve been behind a little with my posting and updates. l have been busy more on my personal life with lots of new things that l’ve been getting involved in. While doing all our online meals, events, catering and work experience that has been coming in our kitchen.

One of them is launching a program with Sam from Family Focus - where we are connecting & educating through food & working with disengaged youth, family and community.

The last 4 months l have been back doing group
Fitness and pt which was what l did for 20 yrs and stopped only the last 5 yrs to just only focus on Eat Real.

I am grateful to Pat from DF for asking me to come back to his gym after all these years to take on some of the classes.

The other thing l have been able to do is to help fighters with their meals to help fuel their body while cutting weight and the latest one is Lane l am seeing a big difference in Lane who fights under Fight Academy at Destination Fitness.

A 16yr old who turns up and train hards day in and day out he just needed help with his nutrition . Lane has one of the most supportive mums who makes sure he is on track. Tress l look up to as a mother and love our chats, you’re so encouraging and have helped me a lot in our talks. Thank you l appreciate you.

We love supporting young people chasing their dreams and at the same time educating them with Eat Real Food which is always going to have a positive effect in our society.

I can’t believe it has been almost two weeks and l haven’t posted any updates. We have been super busy with catering, events and also l am very excited to finally share our latest project/program that we have been working on…

This is one of my long term goals and l am incredibly blessed to partner up with Sam from Family Focus.

This is something we have been talking about for a while and we are now putting into action.

What is this programme about? It’s about connecting families, young people, disadvantaged & disengaged people through food. We know that in order to have a healthier community we need to start at the ground base and thats feeding our body with wholesome food.

This is through demonstrating, talking and sharing. This is not a tick and flick programme as we all know that this doesn’t really work. It may look good on pen to paper but this isn’t working.

How did we learn when we were growing up? Its through being taught hands on. As you all know this is how we have done it with our own programme in the kitchen for the last 10yrs and we have seen that it works.

We will keep everyone updated and we can’t wait to share with you our journey.

Very proud of Sam who comes and helps us on Thursday. He is building up his resilience and at times, faces challenges but continues to turn up. We have seen him growing and adapting these last years. 👏🏼

We (Theo & I) finally got to celebrate our anniversary. We totally forgot till Theo’s Mum and my best friend reminded us of it. Married for 13yrs and together for almost 20yrs. So thankful for a very supportive husband.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums.

For those who haven’t got anything on but would like to come and celebrate a special Day. A local Church Potters House is putting a special service and kids get to make their own special platter box for their mums and there is a bite to eat after.

We have been in the food business for over 10years. We are always striving to do the best that we can. We appreciate all your feedback and we are always finding ways to improve the quality and service.

As you all know our food is like your homestyle cooking, it isn’t commercially processed and that is why we stand out. These meals aren’t mass produced & we cut and prep every single meal so sometimes they may look a little rustic but we know that it tastes good and is healthy for you.

What also stands out is that we offer a range of dietary requirements on each dish that every one can experience eating the same meal but slightly different ingredients.

One thing i learned over the years from my changing eating habits from vegetarian to vegan then paleo and now to eating to fuel my training and personal goals is the struggle l felt when l couldn’t eat the same food as the rest of my family because of my own dietary needs.

For example some of you want to just eat healthier but your partner wants to eat Keto how good is it that you can eat the same meal but we just slightly made the little dietary adjustment. It means you can sit down and eat the same meals.

I’m very proud of how far we have come and also the range of service we are providing. We are now able to expand and do HCP package meals for our seniors and we also have been able to give to those who are struggling as well.

Thanks to all my staff who are always willing to keep expanding their capacity to keep Eat Real going.

The last 3 weeks have been crazy!!!

The last 3 weeks have been hectic!!! But we are back to normal and amongst this busy time we were able to have a couple of great chefs jump in to help us.

So thankful for Christian who jumped in with ease to help us out for the last week. I was very ambitious this week with heaps of catering and a couple of events on at the same time that l literally felt like l was drowning and along came these two amazing chefs that felt like they just strolled in and I felt so grateful for their help.

Introducing Christian… his willingness to work shows and it almost felt like he has been with us for a long time. We would love to keep him but he is looking for full time job in a restaurant that will appreciate his culinary skills. We will definitely miss his presence. Let us know if you're looking for a great chef and I will connect you to him.

Also excited to say we have Shane helping us on Thursday nights for our football meals. He has worked in high-end & fast paced restaurants and we wanted to help boost the football club Thursday dinner service.

I know he can train and teach my staff with greater skills in the kitchen and how to make the kitchen run smooth and l would like to have the night off with family.

We are currently offering 4 dishes plus 2 x kids' meals for a great price that changes weekly. We will let everyone know the dinner special and post them.

Lots of movement in our business at the moment and l’m looking forward to Easter break having 2-3 days off. Yay!!!

So glad to have Claire in our team you may remember her when she did one year with us at yr 9 over 3 yrs ago. She was struggling going to school and wasn’t sire if it was for her. We were able to giver her the opportunity to come and spend time with us and after 1yr she knew she wanted to finish education. 👏🏼

She has completed her high school and have joined our Team part time as she also has another job. We are extremely proud of her and this is the reason why we do what we do.

One of our favourite chefs Birthday was yesterday. Big shout out to her. We hope she had a great time and that we are so incredibly blessed to have her in our team.

I personally want to say “Thank You for everything you do” I met you at our crossfit gym training beside each other and even tried to poach you for work as l saw something about you but it was all about timing.

Over one year ago you contacted me asking if there was any opportunity to work with us and to be honest we didn’t have the capacity to give you what you needed at that time but l really wanted you in our team and we made it work.

Thank you for loving and putting 100% in our Business and also working hard and being so organised. Your drive to push boundaries and to step up is what Eat Real needed. Eat Real needed someone like you who can work closely to someone like me that has a million things at once and can get over whelmed with all our business ventures, projects and side hustles. You’re able to just remind me to slow down and have a game plan each day and week. Even on your day off you send me a reminder.

You are passionate, have an expressive vocab and cool vibe, dynamic and you’re our G.I Jane in our kitchen. You are open to lots of ideas and even willing to challenge me on some of mine which l appreciate and that you CARE about this community business.

We look forward to celebrating with you tomorrow and also for another crazy pack week.

WE LOVE Just giving back and l have been able to give to some families that are struggling with school lunches but this has been a-bit of challenge lately with costing going up and our business has had a slow start to the year.

But we still want to keep doing this but l need help (it’s rare for me to ask but l alone can’t keep using my own money to continue).

So we have partnered up with Crossfit KanTok as a way of also giving back to their community as they are celebrating their 4th year in business. They know how hard it was as they started at a time with Covid and they survived and grateful for the support they get from all their members. They are also a family run business.

So this Saturday 24th : Not only do we get to celebrate their milestone we will also be fundraising to provide family with lunches and meals. So how can you help or get involve.

- l am a founding member of CrossFit KanTok and my family trains there and we love what it does for the community.

- Their members will be doing a rowing marathon to raise money and people can make donations on the day or can directly pm for details.

- Come along to CrossFit KanTok this Saturday from 3pm onwards.

- Hope to see you there. Lets raise some money!!!

The first online menu of the year is now over! Wow we received many orders thank you all for your support. What started as a well planned start to 2024 ended up being a little chaotic with some staff unexpectedly being away and a last minute one day notice of 200 more meals to add to our cooking schedule. Thank You to my team I am feeling so grateful & proud of you with our backs to the wall we came through with the goods. We also welcome Claire back to our team, some of you may remember her when she did her traineeship with us 3 years ago. I can't wait to share her story with you all soon. Happy Ordering!!!
