I am a little behind with my personal posting this year. Its been a full on year and almost 1yr ago Samantha Stitt & l were discussing doing a side project that we knew that could have a greater impact in our community.

We created the “One Bite At A Time”. Program. A place where we can cook/ connect/ model & mentor all walks of life from young girls to mothers to gain new skills and to build relationships with each other & confidence in themselves.

Not going to lie we faced alot challenges to start off but we were not afraid of that, and to be honest with you, what we have done in 6months while trying to run our own businesses family and life is truly a great testimony of our vision for this program.

I feel incredibly grateful and blessed to have Sam to be my program partner, we both are very different in our own skill sets and strengths but we are dynamite when we are together because we have the same vision and core belief. There’s been moments of exhaustion/ overwhelm and also uncertainty but we stayed consistent each week turning up.

We have seen life transform right in front of our eyes not because we have exceptional powers or gifts but because we see hope and potential in everyone that walks through the program door.

We are excited to announce we are back next year 2025!! Keep a look out for dates.

Another great session this time at the Manoora Community Garden. The theme was ‘Garden of Manoora’.

Such a beautiful day and felt so good to be out sun. Brought a-lot of childhood memory and even got the chance to eat some sugar cane fresh.

We made:
- Cassava with Coconut
- Fish w coconut/ lemongrass/ chilli with Banana leave
- Stir-fry eggplant/ bitter-melon and cabbage with chicken
- Banana heart with pumpkin and coconut
- Bruschetta w fetta and basil
- Sugar cane

We are back full swing and we are now running our 10 week program. This week we started back on and the theme was ‘Its How We Roll’.

Everyone had a great time learning how to roll rice paper roll and with left over ingredients turn them to asian noodle salad and we have enough to even make stirfy.

Next week theme “Garden of Manunda” so we will be cooking and picking our fresh produce in the garden.

This is the third week of our program. We welcome Katherine to our team. We are excited to see her grow and share our life skills with her.

So today is “WHAT IS IN YOUR PANTRY”.

This morning, we went to centacare to grab one of their
Food boxes from Oz Harvest, and we also brought stuff in our pantry that we usually have or need to use up.

We are going to get creative to see what we can come up with and post what we end up making.

Creating Change One Bite At A Time”

We had a second week of our program. This week was all about pasta and homemade healthy pizza.

- We discussed different brands of cheese, deli meats, pasta etc all the ingredients we used today. We even discovered ways of clever marketing on packaging.

- How to incorporate frozen vegetables to our pasta dish and how easy it was to just add it without making a fuss. We did a before and after taste and they preferred with vegetables.

- Pizzas the difference with doughy pizza/ dominos to using wraps which have less calories and we even timed how long it took to make. It was 5 minutes.

- Katherine even learnt to make a tropical fruit platter for everyone. She was so pleased she made it and how easy it was. She couldn’t stop smiling

- All ingredients we use is what everyone had at home, and all under $3 a serve how good is that.

- Also mum and daughter had an opportunity to connect through cooking and sharing. They all left with full belly and meals to be taken home for dinner. Elanora was so proud she made a dish that looked so good. We couldn’t believe she did that.

This is what it is all about walking away feeling empowered with more knowledge and skills.

Today we launch our new Project/program this has been on my heart to do for the last 8yrs but the last 6 months the deep desire/conviction has been heavy on my heart.

I have partnered with Sam from Family Focus who has also that drive to see family connect and also young people who are on foster/ residential care to find some kind of direction in their life. I have worked with Sam for a few years now with some of her young people that she support and the difference that has made and the life impacting experience they received.

We are excited nervous/ anxious and even unsure if we are just big dreamers to Create Change A Bite At A Time’ but we are going to give it a go.

We would love your support by just sharing and also encouraging us along the way. This is how Eat Real Started and 10yrs later we are still at it. We have seen so many positive changes that it out weighs all the turbulence time.

Looking sharp Lane ‘2 GUNS’ Moody

It has been a long fight camp for Lane. 10 weeks ago Lane made a decision to eat, sleep and train Muay Thai! More so than normal. This photo shows Lane, straight after weigh ins, physically and mentally ready to jump the ropes tomorrow night.

It has been made so much easier with the help of Eat Real Cairns and Elsa supporting Lane with nutritionally dense foods! Lane cannot thank Elsa enough for getting him ready for this. Lane also cannot thank his gym, DF.Gym, and his coaches to get him ready. Lane is incredibly lucky to have such amazing people to help raise him to be who he is today!

Tomorrow night he jumps the ropes to fight for the WMO Aus Jnr Title holder. Good luck to all the fighters and don’t forget, there will be no live streaming so you will have to jump on to livecombatsports.com.au to watch the fights.
