Yesterday's elopement on the beach was a little breezy 🌬️ and absolutely one of the most relaxed and sweet ceremonies I've had the pleasure to officiate 💖 The kids played in the sand dunes, chased each other (and the grown ups) across the sand while mum and dad exchanged their marriage vows ... I'm sure the photos will be spectacular 💞 thank you for this pic of the "windswept celebrant"

Their families live half the world away and yesterday they eloped with just closest friends by their side, lots of flowers and the yummiest chocolate cake to celebrate 💖💍🍰

Why do we need a celebrant for our wedding ceremony?

Basically, you need a celebrant for a wedding ceremony because
your marriage won’t be legal if you don’t have one!

There are some requirements you need to fulfil to be legally married and an authorised celebrant is registered by the Australian Government to ensure these requirements are met.

🤍You must be over 18 (there are some circumstances in which people under 18 can marry and I’m happy chat about those if you have questions)
🤍You must not be married to someone else (or already married to the person you want to marry)
🤍You must not be siblings or parent/child or grandparent/grandchild (adopted or blood relatives)
🤍You must give real consent to the marriage

Authorised Celebrants also have training and experience in creating and performing
personalised, meaningful ceremonies. We know what to do if something unexpected
happens.

We are flexible, adaptable, and comfortable dealing with last minute changes
We are excellent at calming you down when your nerves are getting the better of you.

You can invite a friend or family member to co-present your ceremony, but you will still need an authorised celebrant to do the legal bits. If you want to have someone else do the ceremonial bits, you can book yourself a celebrant who is willing to take care of the legals and then take a step to the side (like me).

On 5 May we met to lodge their Notice of Intended Marriage..... they did the one month wait and today, 5 June, they got married.... sitting around the kitchen table with their witnesses, wearing t shirts and jeans and the biggest cheek-to-cheek grins.... they got married 💝💝

It was a little breezy on Wednesday as we gathered for an intimate elopement ceremony overlooking Keppel Bay from the Singing Ship at Emu Park... literally tying the knot in a hand fasting ritual, exchanging the most emotionally packed vows and shedding a tear or two, as well as lots of happy laughter with the witnesses looking on 💝💗

We completed a Legals Only marriage yesterday morning... no photos please! So here's a little "keyboard sketch" ✍️ We gathered in the garden (just the wedding couple, their 2 witnesses and me) Legals don't take long (like 5 mins!!) the witnesses held the wedding rings, vows were stated, there were tears, docs were signed, more tears (and some giggles) kisses and then champagne corks popped 🍾 Love keeping it simple 💗

I have to admit to having a special love for for Elopement ceremonies, They are certainly a little different to bigger wedding events. They are up close, intense and very intimate. You want a celebrant you feel really comfortable and relaxed with, one who can share your laughter and tears when the only audience you have is each other, your witnesses and maybe your closest family and friends. Your questions will be a little different if you are planning to elope …. just like your needs, wants and vision for the day will be intensely yours. Elopements have given me some of my favourite ceremony memories over the years and I’d love to be a part of yours.
