এই ঘটনাটি প্রচুর ঘটছে। মানুষ শখ করে কুকুর বিড়াল পালা শুরু করে এবং শখ শেষ হয়ে গেলে রাস্তায় ছেড়ে দেয়। আপনাকে বুঝতে হবে যে শখের প্রাণিটি বাসায় থেকে থেকে রাস্তায় সারভাইভ করার ক্ষমতা হারিয়ে ফেলেছে। অতএব শখের সাথে দায়িত্বের জায়গাটিও বুঝুন এবং হয় তাদেরকে ভালোভাবে সবসময় রাখুন অথবা শুরুতেই নেবেন না। এমন হতে পারে যে ইচ্ছে থাকা সত্ত্বেও পরিবর্তিত পরিস্থিতিতে আপনার পক্ষে রাখা সম্ভব হচ্ছে না - সেক্ষেত্রে প্রাণিটিকে অ্যাডপশনে দেয়ার ব্যবস্থা করুন - এমন জায়গায় যেখানে অন্তত তার একই পর্যায়ের যত্ন হবে।
