Topical Talks at Upside Down Festival 2025: a snippet from last edition (featuring Briana Ashley Stuart, TJ Jazz and Michael Ghysels 🙏) and a Pick 'n' mix program reveal for this edition.

We are honored to hear from actors in the field how they perceive and experience intersectional topics through the lense of jazz.

They will share experiences, good practices, thoughts, and doubts. Through storytelling and panel talks, we take a deep dive into the values that Upside Down Festival puts in the spotlight: respect for the African American culture, inclusion & diversity, and sustainability. These talks will benefit any curious dancer and community builder alike.

This taster is for everyone who has never danced Lindy Hop before!

Lindy Hop❓ An energetic, swinging partner dance born out of the African-American jazz tradition.

Together with inspirers Rein and Sep, you will explore the music, the dance and the culture. 👯‍♂️🎶

No need to register or bring a partner. You will learn to dance both roles and we encourage changing dance partners.

Come for the taster, stay for the party 🥳: we continue the night with the monthly “Practice Your Moves” social dance, hosted by De Gentse Hoppers.

Or if you rather chat, watch, enjoy the music and have a drink - the bar will be open! 🥂

This taster is part of the activities leading up the Upside Down Festival.

Op 3 dagen tijd leer je de Lindy Hop! 🤩

Upside Down Festival is een swingend muziek- & dans festival weer we heel wat andere kunstvormen en invalshoeken in de verf zetten.

Het festival vindt plaats van 27 tot 31 december 2025 in Gent. Voor degenen die nog nooit Lindy Hop hebben gedanst, hebben we iets speciaals gepland: De Total Beginners Track!

Het is een intensieve maar beginnersvriendelijke reeks lessen in de ochtenden van 28, 29 en 30 december als eerste verkenning van Lindy Hop. Een team van inspirerende artiesten dompelt je onder in de wereld van swingdans, muziek en de Afrikaans-Amerikaanse cultuur.

Je kan de Total Beginners Track combineren met een Festival Pass (5 dagen incl avondfeesten) of een Afternoon Pass (3 namiddagen).

What? a music jazz jam together with a social dance!
For whom? musicians, dancers, both from amateurs to professional level.
Why? To share swing jazz and keep the social vibe alive: by dancing, playing and having fun!

Come and bring your instruments, (tap)dancing shoes and friends. If you play music, you can play accoustic. Basic amplify equipment is available.

CORRIHOP 🌉

Dit najaar kan je elke maand een namiddag vrij & gratis komen dansen:

zondag 12 oktober, 14u – 17u
zondag 9 november, 14u – 17u
zondag 14 december, 14u – 17u

Graag maken we het een evenement voor en door de community: steek je graag een handje toe? Mensen verwelkomen, een taartje voorzien, de muziek kiezen, mee helpen opruimen, de bar bedienen… De max!

Er ligt een fijne skate/dansvloer, er is een geluidsinstallatie en de brug zorgt voor beschutting.

Kinderen en families zijn meer dan welkom.

Upside Down is als dansende partner betrokken bij de werking van Corridor. We organiseren er regelmatig dansactiviteiten voor alle leeftijden.
