The translation of the word ‘reus’ in English is Giant. The reason I choose this nickname is because of my fysicall handicap called dwarfism. Thanks to our ‘beautifull’ society to give this disease a name... to seperate us automatically from, what they call ‘the normall people’. To make a long story short, here am I, Reus. I want to, and I’ll shall prove the opposite. Life’s to short to cry and complain.
Reus is artist from listening to all kinds of music as a kid. Having his own Hi-fi soundsystem in his bedroom in ‘Overpelt’ and playing cd’s and even cassettes. At the age of 16 he started experimenting with ‘house music’. From that moment it was instantly clear that he couldn’t get enough of this genre. Starting to buy his very first small dj-controller and searching for tracks and releases. When he was 18 years old he moved to the city Ghent (where he is still living) to study : Illustration & Graphic design. In Ghent, he had met a lot of people. Leendert was one of them. “Reus&Leendert” bought their very first cdj’s & mixer together. After a couple of years of deejaying together they managed to play different times in clubs as: Decadance, Club Vaag, Kompass Club, Crush Club & Café d’anvers. They Jumped around as little kids when they were invited to play at the Nature One festival on 2 different stages. After all these years they decided to split and play most of the times seperate. Reus is resident & member of the concept called: Die Eckte. Die Eckte invited names on their events as; Joey Daniel, Latmun, Daniel Selfmade, Darius Syrossian, Pawsa and even Claude Von Stroke. From the moment they splitted Reus played seperate times in ‘Club Vaag’, ‘Kompass Club’,... and his very first time in‘Nb-Club’ - Figueira Da Foz. (Portugal) One of his very first tracks called ‘huis’(unreleased) is played on belgiums national radiostation ‘Studio Brussel’ by Goldfox.
This new-kid-from-the-blok straight out of Denderbelle is been playing electronical music for 7 years. His passion for music started when he was just a little kid, on the age of 6 he started to play saxophone until he was 12 years old. His passion and love for the electronic music developed when he was 16 years old and went to a club for the first time. “I went to a Techno party and I was overwhelmed by the music. I still remember standing there for the first time: the drumming, thunderous bass that I felt over my entire body, followed by a loud bang which instantly gave me that WAUW effect”. After 3 years of collecting music of different music labels he decided that this is what he wanted to do. He bought his first dj gear and started practice each day until he go to sleep. At every after party with friends, he was the resident dj. He posted his sets regularly on Soundcloud and after doing this for 3 years, his been making his way in the night scène since starting at the Decadance in Ghent. From there on, things turned out positive pretty quick with gigs at Café d’Anvers, Decadance, Kompass and also at Club Vaag, as one of the residents of Die Eckte on their SKAANDALEUX parties. Let’s not forget to mention the tour to Portugal, Figueira da Foz where he set NB Club on fire!
His energetic Deep tech style mixed with some of that funky flavour is what he loves to serve the dancing people.
