Due to the high demand from our guests, we have created a newspaper called “The Richard Times”, capturing everything about the rich history of Kasteel van Ordingen.
Did you know that the story of our castle estate began more than 1,000 years ago? Let’s travel back in time to the year 1040. During the Middle Ages, Kasteel van Ordingen served as a border guard. After enduring the French Revolution, two World Wars, and changing ownership multiple times, the Sleurs family decided that it was time for a complete renovation. Happy Father’s day, let’s toast to all forms of fatherhood.
Today, we are officially launching the new sparkling wine, made from the Souvignier Gris grape.
This first edition is from the 2022 vintage and is a first for Flanders as it is the region’s first sparkling organic wine.
Hotel guests had the opportunity to taste the bubbles for the first time this morning during breakfast.

Our team had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive press event for this designer, manufacturer, and distributor of high-end wallcoverings. The Arte family started their journey on our castle grounds with a cocktail workshop in our summer bar . Cheers to the first Flemish sparkling wine, made by Kasteel van Ordingen.
The castle domain has roots in a rich agricultural past, dating back to 1040. This included a vineyard in earlier times. To restore this tradition, it was decided in 2021 to establish our own vineyard. 1250 fully-grown plants of the Souvignier Gris variety were immediately planted in an organic environment. The wine is a first for Flanders as it is the first Flemish sparkling organic wine. Today, a sneak peek of the 2022 production year was revealed by castle lord Richard Sleurs and Professor Ghislain Houben from UHasselt in the recently renovated meeting rooms. Afterwards, a first tasting took place in the vineyard. Officially tested and approved.
On Father’s Day, the sparkling wine will be launched for the general public. This local product will be used to enhance the culinary experience and local authenticity of the castle.
