Now it is up to you to select the best arrangement. The ikebana challenge submissions are here. You could give your vote by putting a thumbs up 👍to all the ones you find interesting. Would would be great is if you would also say a couple of word in comments about why you like them.

Remember, there is a prize for the author of the best arrangement so take your time to select. The results will be announced on Friday. The winner will be have access to the ikebana club membership platform for 3 month at no cost!

P.S. If you have submitted your arrangement but it does not appear here please let me know asap. There were so many different communication channels that I could make a mistake and miss something.

Ikebana Challenge Clarifications:

Q: who could submit arrangements to participate in the challenge?
A: ikebana students and teachers from any school.

Q: what should be the theme of the arrangement?
A: autumn arrangement or Thanksgiving theme

Q: how will the winner be defined?
A: by voting on social media during Tuesday-Thursday period

Q: how and when do I submit my arrangement?
A: post it on Instagram and/or Facebook and tag me. It is best to also send me the post just to make sure I did not miss it and took your arrangement into account. The arrangements should be submitted today or on Monday, November 25.

Q: how do I get my рrizе if I wiп?
A: the wiпnеr will receive a message from me with access to the ikebana club library with 100+ videos about Japanese culture, tutorials explaining various techniques of making creative vases without specialised equipment, botanical sketching tutorials and other ikebana-related material.

You would have frее access to the materials for 3 months. The value of the 3 months of membership is normally 111 Eurо. You can also be a part of the community chat and can participate in all the live club activities during that period.

For example, in December we will have a guest speaker teaching us about origami and we will make arrangements incorporating origami into ikebana.

New ikebana challenge!

I just realised that I did not announce the new challenge on the social media. I only did it via email to those who are on my mailing list.

If you are not receiving emails from me just go to ikebanaWEB.com and click on “enter your email here”. It is simple and frее, more than 1K ikebana enthusiasts are already receiving my updates and announcements.

Let me do the announcement now properly.

So what we will do:

1) You can make a Thanksgiving arrangement or a seasonal arrangement in case Thanksgiving is not a holiday you celebrate.

2) Post it on social media tagging me:

on Instagram or
Seehaus on Facebook.

The submission deadline is Monday, Nov 25. I added 1 day back the original announcement. Save this post so that you can consult the timeline in case you forget.

3) During Tuesday-Thursday period vote for the arrangements you like the most. I will make a post with the submitted arrangements next week.

4) Bonus:

Join my feedback session on Tuesday, Nov 26 at 19:00 Brussels time. You can do it on social media or if you receive my emails, you will be invited to join via zoom. This way you could ask questions real time.

5) On Friday look out for the announcement of the best Winning arrangement! The winner will get 3 month of the ikebana club membership value 111 Euro.

New Course: “Commercial Ikebana” Starts Nov 18!

I’m so excited to invite you to my upcoming Commercial Ikebana online course. It will be a journey for anyone ready to share their ikebana with the world. 🌍 Over the next three months, we’ll meet twice a month to explore how to take your beautiful creations beyond your home, whether that means volunteering in your community or working on client commissions as a professional ikebana artist.

Hi, today I will not do the live ikebana video at the usual time. As explained in my last video, I might be scheduling videos for a different time/day as my schedule permits.

Are you coming to the Ikebana Exhibition that takes place this weekend at the Botanical garden in Meise, Belgium? If you are in Belgium I would highly recommend visiting it. It is the last exhibition my first ikebana teacher is organising and all of her students put a lot of effort into their works. They are truly remarkable.

What if you are not in Belgium? Or if you can’t come? I have a solution for you: tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. I will give a virtual tour of the exhibition for my ikebana club members. Once in a while I also invite my followers to join our club events. And this is just that occasion.

What you need to do to be invited:
- check that you follow me on Instagram
- fill in your email in the form on my website ikebanaWEB.com (also available in the profile header)
- look out for an email from me with the zoom link to join the live call. Also check in your sраm folder.

In case you could not attend the expo tour live but want to view the recording please drop me a line in the comments and I will see if that would be possible to share.

Ikebana videos are back!

If you have been following me for a while you know that 2 years ago we have created ikebana club for all the passionate ikebana students and teachers from around the world. Since that time this club community has been a source of inspiration, knowledge and support for all of us.

Every once in a while we open the doors of the ikebana club for the new members. Typically I do that a few times a year so that I could help each new member in getting familiar with all the resources we have and with integrating into the community.

Our club library is now really extensive with all the vase making tutorials, lectures on Japanese culture, botanical sketching videos etc. accumulated over the 2 years period. And of course every month we have new live zoom calls, backstage tours from ikebana exhibitions and flower festivals in different countries, feedback sessions and of course exciting guest expert lectures. This month for example, we have a guest presenter from Chicago talking about the meaning of the “Cherry blossom admiration” tradition in Japan.

So today and tomorrow (September 4 and 5) you could join our club on my ikebanaSchool.com website (the link is also up in my profile or copy it here https://ikebanaschool.com/subscription/ikebana-club-sign-up). All the details about the club subscription as well as the video feedback from the current club members are available on this page. Have a look, see if this is something that could enrich your ikebana journey and stimulate your artistic development by becoming a member of a diverse international group of like minded artists.

September program starts tonight with a club session where one of the club members will lead the discussion about Japanese fire works festivals Hanabi and we all could have an informal “tea-and-chat” time around this topic.

The full September schedule up in the post too. Note, that time of the sessions is mentioned in the Belgium, Brussels time zone (where I am located). If you could not attend those sessions live there are always recordings available after each event.
