The iconic Masters Of Reality release their first new music in 15 years! New single, “Sugar” on Mascot Records heralds the welcome return of the band. Masters of Reality are touring in Europe now and will visit Leuven for the first time this coming Tuesday! https://lnk.to/mastersofreality
The current touring line up includes besides Chris Goss, also long standing drummer John Leamy, bass player extraordinair Paul Powell and Alain Johannes on guitar.
Talking about Sugar Chris Goss says, “It’s a complete, emotionally based story instead of my usual, covertly whispered list of what’s wrong with the world’s tragic trajectory. Finally the lyric gelled, reflecting on intelligent women trying to find their place somewhere in the mess. Not in the modern media’s social strata angle as a percentage number to create ratings by directing a ruse to a large demographic, but a real picture of what real people feel. Why I love the The Bevis Frond !?
Way back at the end of the eighties and the start of the nineties Nick Saloman was a truly fresh and defiant original voice amidst sleazy hair metal and MTV. Yeah, there were American alternative rock bands like Dinosaur Jr or Sonic Youth, but the Bevis Frond was European and the albums appealed to me cause they indulged my craving for psychedelic rock and my need for anti establishment music.
Inspired by psychedelic sixties bands like The Who, The Beatles and The Pretty Things, Nick Saloman adds a big dash of punk and garage rock, and tops it all with witty lyrics and great guitar freak-outs, exactly what the young searching teenager that I was could wish for. His DIY approach (a multi instrumentalist often credited for all instruments on an album, founder of his own label, his own underground psych magazine) and fiercely independent and outspoken character have been an influence ever since. To quote him: “Don’t try to be hip. Do what you love and things will start happening.” And Saloman has written some fantastic songs too! (sf)
