Say hello to Lyra! This lovely lady knows the trails well. Her human works in the NVCA admin building right here at the Tiffin, so she’s a bit of a regular around these parts.

With spring in full swing, it’s a great time to hit the trails with your pup. Just a quick reminder to help keep Tiffin safe and enjoyable for everyone:
- Dogs must be on leash at all times
- Always pick up after your pet
- Be mindful of wildlife and other visitors

Lyra’s got excellent trail etiquette and she’s always on the lookout for her next forest adventure.

The weather is warming up—it's a great time to get outside and enjoy some of NVCA’s beautiful Conservation Areas!

We're happy to share that the following Conservation Areas are open for the season:
Tiffin, Edenvale, Fort Willow, Glencairn, Minesing, and Utopia.

Please note: Nottawasaga Bluffs and Petun Conservation Areas remain closed as cleanup continues following the early April ice storm.

If you're planning to paddle the Minesing Wetlands, be aware that water levels are high. Please exercise caution and be prepared.

Join us at Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival!

We’ve received some questions about whether the recent ice storm will impact the Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation. While our community has faced significant challenges from the storm, we are grateful that Tiffin required only minimal cleanup to prepare for the event.

Spring Tonic will run as planned this Saturday and Sunday, April 5 & 6, and we look forward to welcoming you for a weekend of maple syrup, and family fun.

We recognize the difficulties many in our community are still facing, and we extend our appreciation to those working hard on recovery efforts.

Sneak peek inside the sugar shack!

Maple syrup doesn’t make itself—our entire program runs on the hard work of incredible volunteers like Casey, John, and Albert, shown here getting bottles ready! From tapping trees and collecting sap to bottling up that sweet liquid gold, our volunteer team does it all with skill, dedication, and plenty of maple-powered energy. A huge thank you to everyone who helps keep this sweet tradition alive!

Sap’s running, and so are we! 🍁

With warmer weather comes the start of maple syrup season, and our dedicated team of volunteers and staff are hard at work, gearing up for another sweet season ahead!

Visitors to the Tiffin Centre will spot sap lines, buckets, and our sugar shack bubbling with activity. Our maple syrup program isn’t just about syrup—it’s a tree-mendous learning experience for school groups, community groups, and Camp Tiffin participants.

We heard it before we saw it—the unmistakable drumming of a pileated woodpecker! This stunning bird, with its brilliant red crest and impressive size, made a surprise appearance in a tree right outside our office window. What a treat to catch a glimpse of one of nature’s icons up close!

Apologies for the blurry photo—we managed to grab this quick shot before it climbed higher into the tree and out of sight. Visiting the Tiffin Centre? Keep your eyes (and ears!) open—you never know what wildlife you might encounter!
