Core values are the DNA of any company. At Event Specialists Inc., our core values shape everything we do, from how we treat clients to how we support each other.

Here’s how we formulated them:

📌 Our core values were born from shared experiences.
📌 We discussed what made working together fun and what kind of environment we thrived in.

This led to a unique set of values, each with a story behind it. For example, we turned our shared love of music (and Excel spreadsheets) into the value “We all play from the same sheet music.”

We had grown into a culture of constant cheerleading for our work and for each other - so we turned that into another value that I really love: "Celebrate all things."

We have experienced firsthand the power of strong core values. Not only does it create a positive work environment, but it also attracts like-minded people who share our passion and approach. Statistics back this up: A study revealed that 46% of candidates consider core values a key factor before applying to any organization.

Still struggling to picture your ideal hybrid event? Think of it this way. We like to think of hybrid events like a Canadian hockey game enjoyed by fans in the arena and at home alike. Just like the organizers of the Playoffs, our team strives to create a similar experience in which viewers and participants both in the room and beaming in from their homes enjoy experientially different but equally meaningful experiences.

Our best piece of advice for those looking to host a hybrid meeting or event is this: “Start with what you do well and begin planning the event from there. Let this strength guide what you offer to clients and/or participants both in-person and online.”

The next question to ask is, “What are the benefits and opportunities of this virtual or hybrid event?” One of the best discoveries of virtual events are what we like to call “the hidden audience” or the people who decide to participate thanks to a virtual option that you didn’t even know were interested in your product, question, or experience. New audiences are being discovered every day in the hybrid space.

You do not have to break the bank to plan a great event.

Inflation's hitting us all, and events are no exception. However, there are still ways to maximize the impact of your event, even with tight budgets.

All it takes is reviewing your resources and planning accordingly.

Here are a few things that have worked for us at Event Specialists Inc.:

➡️ Focus on ‘Needs’ vs. ‘Wants’: It helps to prioritize what truly matters for the event's success. For example, can a smaller space with strategic lighting create the right atmosphere?

➡️ Get creative by exploring alternatives such as: Can we play with the lighting or decorations to create a wow factor?

➡️ Embrace resourcefulness: Be open to using what you have. Negotiate with the venue for included items or explore DIY options.

➡️ Be transparent about the budget: Knowing the exact number can help you come up with creative solutions.

➡️ Prioritize value over price: Choose vendors who align with your vision, not just the cheapest option. Their expertise can make a big difference.

➡️ Think beyond the obvious: Explore alternative venues or marketing strategies that might be a better fit for your budget.

Our take: A successful event isn't about how much you spend, but how strategically you use your resources.

Here at Event Specialists, we’re lucky to be led by our fearless founder Mahogany Jones, named 2021 Canadian Event Planner of the Year and 2021/2022 Top 100 Most Influential Meeting Planner, who, from about the young age of thirteen, has been designing and executing successful events, meetings, experiences, and fundraisers. From her first paid job in events - a 12-hour relay that raised almost a million dollars! - to the present day, Mahoganey Jones (and by extension this team that she has created) is driven to work with clients who have a strong “why”.

This is especially true when it comes to producing corporate events. Strong corporate culture translates into the production of strong corporate events.
