Engagements are down. Bookings are down.
Simple math: No one was having meet cutes a few years ago, so there’s fewer couples tying the knot right now.
The wedding boom has been followed by the engagement gap, and I’m sorry to say, we might feel it a little longer here in Canada, compared to our friends in the south. (I already warned you.)
There’s less business to go around, and more wedding pros hungry for those bookings.
Add to that, clients are taking longer—a LOT longer—to make decisions and considering more options than ever before. They’re not all looking for the best deal, but they want to be damn sure they’re making the perfect choice for their big day and their money. Money that definitely doesn’t go as far as it used to.
Another tricky year. After several tricky years. Sorry friends.
Don’t worry, I’ve got solutions!
✨ If I wanted to book more weddings in 2024, here’s three things I would do:
001. Polish up that website: I see way to many wedding pros procrastinating on their website updates. Or even site launches. Yikes. (If your site has been coming soon for 7 months, DM me. I’ve got something coming soon, just for you.)
002. Blog: Yes, really. This is a really easy way to put the word out there about the venues and cities on your wedding wish list, in hopes of getting more reach for the couples considering them.
003. Network and engage: I’m not suggesting you start hitting up everyone you’ve ever worked with—or want to work with—for a coffee chat. But DO stay in touch. Be active with engagement on your social media with the businesses you align with and admire. And do it authentically!
If you’re not willing to try even one of these steps, let me know how it’s going waiting for bookings to fall in to your lap. 😏
