Some moody florals on Calgary’s favourite mantel!

Originally our bride wasn’t a fan of roses but then decided we should include some since they live in Pasadena- the City of Roses!

I chose the bi- colour orange/yellow “Circus” rose, the orange “Babe” spray roses & pale yellow ‘Salinero” spray roses since they went perfectly with the brighter colour palette.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day friends! 🍁

This wedding took place at the top of Sulphur Mountain! With an elevation of 2,451m (8,041ft) it overlooks the beautiful town of Banff, Alberta! The views are incredible and worth the gondola ride up!

With the majority of our weddings taking place in the Canadian Rocky Mountains (Canmore, Banff, Lake Lake Louise, Kananaskis, Jasper), we get to enjoy their beauty often. I’m always amazed by the stunning views time after time! Not only are the views incredible but to be able to celebrate love here and provide the flowers that enhance the natural scenic beauty is true a blessing!

I know I’ve sad it many times, but it’s 100% true…
I’m incredibly grateful that I get to bring my client’s floral dreams to life!!!

Even after 24 years in the floral industry (13 with my own business) my love of weddings and floral design grows stronger every year and with each wedding!

It was such a privilege to design Victoria & Mark’s wedding flowers! Victoria’s mom, Janice, reached out to me when Mark was planning the proposal. Janice knew how much Victoria loved our flowers so she wanted to surprise her with a room full of them for their surprise engagement party the night of the proposal!!

I was so delighted when they asked me to be their wedding florist! I worked closely with Renée of to bring the vision to life & this is the result- a super dreamy ceremony space on the terrace at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel!!

These Lemon Chiffon Peonies were the star bloom at Katie & Byron’s wedding in June!!!

I loved them so much that I just purchased a Lemon Chiffon Peony root to add to my garden collection this fall- well actually I bought 5 new peony roots in total to add to the 14 I already!!! I’m excited for spring!

As we head into Thanksgiving weekend I’m so Thankful for flowers, my garden and all the couples who wholeheartedly trust me and my team to create beauty for your weddings! 💛

A moment for this sweetheart table 🤍🤍🤍

Chi from .ca & our bride had a vision and it included a cascading waterfall of fresh flowers off the front of our couple’s 8ft long sweetheart table! This is the result!

I’m insanely happy with how this turned out! We’ve designed cascading head table florals before but never this large! It was truly epic & turned out beautifully!!

September marked 13 years in business for Flowers By Janie & this past week I’ve seen multiple dreams come true that I never would have thought possible when I first started in the floral industry at the age of 17 or when I started FBJ in 2011.

In the past week I’ve won 2nd place in the Garden Rose Design contest (with this design), created huge floral installations for the largest wedding of my career alongside my amazing team and today I’m on the cover of Magazine, nominated along with so many incredible floral industry professionals for the top 40 over 40!!!!

Dreams do come true! It takes hard work and support but I’m still seeing dreams come true after 24 years in the floral industry! I love my job and my clients so much! I’m so grateful for all my amazing suppliers, vendors, clients, team and my family! It is a joy and a blessing to continue to be passionate about my career choice and I’m so full of gratitude!

Swipe to see our design that just won 2nd place in the Garden Rose Design Contest for the Everyday Category!!! I’m so happy it was chosen!

I designed this garden rose install for our recent team photoshoot backdrop which we also had at our Roses & Red Velvet Workshop in June!!

After 7 years of running this incredible contest, this is the final year that Alexandra Farms is hosting it! We’ve had the joy of winning every year for the past 3 years plus Oscar and I had the opportunity to visit their farm in Colombia early last year! They hands down have the very BEST garden roses and our weddings and events are always filled with them!

Gratitude post! I have the BEST husband!

I woke up this morning to a delightful aroma & my husband making sour dough bread in the kitchen. He told me he was making me breakfast and lunch for the day (and he made supper last night too)!

This week, my team and I have the busiest wedding week of the year so Oscar has been helping behind the scenes with meals and processing flowers. He also takes all the behind the scenes photos of flowers from our studio (like these photos) and he’s busy editing all of his own client’s videos in between! Super husband & business partner!!

40th wedding anniversary flowers from yesterday’s celebration in Canmore!

This was an incredibly special event and I feel honoured to have been asked to design these florals!

In the summer of 2019 Vicki (mother of the bride) reached out to me about her daughter’s wedding. She hadn’t secured the venue yet because they wanted to make sure I was available to do the florals first. Vicki and her husband are both originally from England and loved my English garden inspired designs!

After booking their daughter’s wedding for summer of 2020, Vicki was diagnosed with cancer and the wedding was moved to December 2019 because the diagnosis wasn’t good.

Oscar (my husband) filmed their daughter & son in law’s wedding and I did the flowers. It was a beautiful winter wedding!!!

Fast forward almost 5 years and I get the best call!
Vicki phoned to say she and Alan were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and that her cancer has been in remission and she’s still alive!!! It was so wonderful to hear from them and be a part of a celebration of their lives together! They asked me to include their favourite flowers: garden roses, sweet peas, clematis, astrantia, forget-me-nots, phlox, nigella, Ranunculus, asters and more!!!

When they picked up the flowers they told me that Vicki had wanted me to be her daughter’s wedding florist since she was a teenager- long before she was even dating her husband!!!

Happy 40th anniversary to you both!!! Thank you for asking me to create some special arrangements for you and your family to enjoy!!!

Our girl Tay Tay won!!! 🥇

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by to view our mannequins COUNTRY and for voting Taylor Swift as your Fan Favorite!!!!

Our inspiration came from the “Floral Folklore” dress she wore to the 2021 Grammy Awards designed by 💕 We loved it so much that my co-designer Morgan of and I wanted to bring it to life in real flowers!!! And thank you Morgan for coming all the way from North Carolina to design our version of Taylor’s dress with me!!!

It took us and our amazing team over 100 hours of sketching, ordering, drying, pressing, gluing, sewing and designing the fresh flowers onto her train! All the details are on my blog.

Thank you for promoting floral art in our community and for bringing such a great show back to Calgary! The BMO Centre was the perfect venue!

Bold blooms for today’s bride & groom!!!

The Icelandic Poppies add an extra special touch!!! They were very hard to source but after multiple wholesalers and flower farms said they weren’t available LeAnn from came through and got us the most perfect blooms & a of couple Coral Sunset peonies too!!
