I was working on orders today and looking at the dates and I was just thinking where does the time go? I’m working on May and June orders…..for 2024. Like, wasn’t it just 2016? Where does the time go? I had a dream last year that it was my 36 birthday and then I woke up and was like phew it’s just a dream, I’m still 35. But then I really woke up and remembered I was 42 😂 Anyways…..all this rambling just to say that time goes by way too fast. Also, I love the straws because they give me that 80’s wedding vibe. If I redid my wedding I’d go full 80’s style. Like the wedding at the beginning of Wedding Singer.

Had to give this magnificent beast a permanent spot on my feed because she’s really been feeling herself this year 🪴

Facts about my ficus…
•I got her as a baby 5 years ago with only 4 leaves
•She is 13 feet tall if the pot sits on the ground
•She’s always been in same spot and gets the most light in the late afternoon
•She gets watered once a week and fertilized 3 times a year.
•She anchored to the wall and will continue to grow across the ceiling

I am not a fiddle leaf fig expert but this one is very happy. Are you a ficus lover too?

December went by in a blur….a really good, fun, happy blur.

Being in Hawaii for the start of the holidays was really special. Being in our special place with our friends and listening to Christmas music, seeing Santa and being festive was the best!

We came home and immediately went to pick up our new baby, Freddy. I love both these hounds a crazy amount and for their own individual personalities. They really couldn’t be more different. I’m so glad we decided to get a second. Dave may have protested but they are quickly becoming besties.

My parents came for an early Christmas and I love it when they are here. My mom is the queen of doting on us and does all the laundry, dishes and cleaning. My dad lives running errands so him and I go hacking around town. Millie loves having company in the house, plus they spoil her rotten so it’s a win all around. Their visits never seem long enough.

I never make much of a big deal about my birthday since it’s so close to Christmas. Usually I do something fun for myself and ask for a special dinner like a seafood pasta or McDonald’s. This year our neighbors celebrated with us and it was simple and perfect and made my day!

We survived spirit week at school and all the activities we do every year as part of our holiday traditions. We did Christmas dinner with Mike’s family on the 22nd and did a white elephant gift exchange. So fun! We’re still trying to find our new traditions with Christmas since Mike’s dad’s passing.
We had Christmas at our house with Mike’s mom. Lots of food, wine, sweets, gifts (for Millie), movies and chatter. It was nothing fancy but it was really good. I’m happy that everyone was happy.

That takes us to now. It’s quiet. Uneventful but not boring. Just content. Slowly taking down the decorations. Going for walks. Cleaning. Watching marathons on tv. Thinking about what we hope for in 2024.
