You know that feeling you get when your around a certain energy that radiates calmness and happiness. It's like an contagious feeling that spreads to others and makes you feel bubbly and like you could smile all day.

Whenever I look back on weddings I've had the privilege to be a part of, I take a second glance at those I've been most effected by. The weddings I can't help but feel like even though it was a brief time spent, it was such a profound day in my life and their's. It left its mark. In my memories and in my heart. Even though I still follow them through their socials and get a small glimpse into their lives. Even though all the planning of their special day is in the past, I still look back and get that feeling from just some photos. Such an uplifting feeling. A reminder of why I still do what I do.

Let's talk about hiring a wedding professional in Alberta and why the costs associated with hiring them seems so outrageous for 1 day.

Firstly, wedding professionals range drastically in pricing. They tend to price themselves based on experience and offered services. It is important to do your research before hiring 💯.

A seasoned wedding professional has been through it all. The ups, downs, learning experiences and the knowledge gained working in this industry. They've had time to consider their prices and value.

Picture this 👉 There are only so many weekends in a year, and wedding season (aka summer) is short in Alberta. Wedding professionals only get paid per booking and this includes working long hours during the weeks to get back to their clients emails, meet/talk with clients, paperwork, planning, time and organization involved prior to the event, and some, even after.

So if you wonder, why do wedding professionals charge so much? Think about the big picture. 👉 If there was only 19 weekends booked in the year, and a wedding professional charged $1,000/booking, that would be $19,000 their business made that year 😳. Now, think about the costs associated with running a small business. 👉 Hiring an accountant, insurance, vehicle upkeep, supplies needed to run your business (wide range of items could be listed here!), costs of hiring assistants (if applicable), monthly fees associated with multiple software and costly application tools to run the business, and lastly, business licences (as in multiple due to working in different locations). Annnddd I'm probably missing some points here 😅.

Bottom line is, whether your budget is small or large, there will be wedding professionals in each budget range, no doubt. Many are hired to save you time (because your time is valuable to you!), give valuable advice, make your day special, and add those extra elements to your day that you and your guest will remember forever 🎂🍾📸.

Often times I tell couples preplanning their wedding vision, "hiring the best possible professionals within your budget, is like buying into an insurance for your special day". 🎉
