The flowers from Otto Farm are all grown without any chemicals, we use only compost produced with the assistance of our chickens and turkeys. The farm was originally settled by our ancestors almost a 100 years ago, at that time it was a dairy farm supplying the community with fresh dairy products and vegetables. Presently Otto Farm raises chickens for eggs all year round, once a year we raise chic

kens for meat, and turkeys for Christmas dinners. All of our poultry are free ranging, enjoying fresh air and chemical free treats. The turkeys are raised in the same field that we grow the flowers, practicing regenerative farming practices.

Thank you so much for your support of our small farm…. WOW it has been a great season! Whether you visited the flower stand once or every week thru out the season I hope your flowers brought you joy, and lots of smiles. Did you notice some of today’s bouquets had stems of sage tucked in along side of the Dahlias? Dual purpose greenery!
As the days turn to winter enjoy the time with family, a cozy fire, a good book and whatever brings you joy! See you again in 2025.

Thanksgiving weekend will be the last weekend of flower sales... we will move on to digging, drying and storing the dahlia tubers for nexts years flowers!!!

Crazy busy this past week; I have to admit I did panic after that crazy wind and rain storm last week. The poor Zinnias were trashed 😞I made a point of gathering some flowers for seeds... I did have lots that were dried and full of seed. I took a chance and harvested a few others that were not ideal but they will have a few viable seeds for next summer. The Celosia were ideal for seed saving, both the fan types and the plumes in all the colors, whahoo! There were a few sunflower seed heads from the new variety which is rusty yellow! I will have lots for next summer😁 Still have to gather seeds from the snap dragons, calendula, strawflowers.... the list goes on and on! The last day for bouquets will be Oct 13th as long as the weather stays mild!

Wow! You are all awesome!!! Seriously, I am so glad you are enjoying the eggs and flowers from Otto Farm. Last week we sold all the bouquets that I put out on Wednesday and Friday, then to top it off we sold out the eggs within 30 minutes of putting them in the stand on Sunday morning!! When you tell me how much the bouquets brighten up your day, or how you bought a bouquet for a friend and how you cant wait to have farm fresh scrambled eggs…. it makes me happy. I love the smiles that the flowers bring to our community, that is the intended purpose! I want to say thank you 😊

The very bold flowers are Zinnias which are native to Mexico and Central America. The Aztecs originally called them “plants that are hard on the eyes” because of their colorful flowers. We definitely have brightly colored Zinnias. Pick up your bouquet Friday at the farm stand on Petersen Road... $10. cash or EFT ....
