Welcome to Bison Lodge's page! Bison Lodge was formerly known as Pioneers Cabin and before that the Old Timers Cabin.
The brand change to Bison Lodge was designed to better reflect our commitment to the social and friendly relations of all people in the Edmonton District. The Lodge is owned and operated by NAPDA (Northern Alberta Pioneers and Descendants Association), a social club officially founded in 1894.
NAPDA's current mission statement is a modern version of the mission originally penned in 1894, it is;
"To preserve the history of the area and the social and friendly relations of all its people."
As a non-profit association, all revenue from event rentals, donations, membership fees, and fundraisers go towards maintaining our designated Municipal Historic Resource facility and creating, expanding, and supporting other non-profits, cultural, and community events.
Bison Lodge and NAPDA are committed to Truth and reconciliation. We have made great progress in that regard thanks to the guidance from our Indigenous Elders' Counsel and the many individuals who took their time to share their knowledge.
We respectfully acknowledge that the traditional land we reside on is in Treaty Six Territory.
We would like to thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples whose ancestors’ footsteps have marked this territory for centuries, such as nêhiyaw (Nay-hee-yow) / Cree, Dené (Deh-neyh), Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-in-ah-bay) / Saulteaux (So-toe), Nakota Isga (Na-koh-tah ee-ska) / Nakota Sioux (Na-koh-tah sue), and Niitsitapi (Nit-si-tahp-ee) / Blackfoot peoples. We also acknowledge this as the Métis’ (May-tee) homeland and the home of one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel.
Together, our region is a welcoming place for all peoples who come from around the world to share Edmonton as a home.
