Love this idea by Jay Shetty who said that “when you find gaps in things that you want in life, often we expect those gaps to be filled by significant others, or family, or friends”

Those folks might not have that skill set or area of interest. Then because we expect them to fill in the gap, we end up feeling resentment towards those individuals because we feel like they aren’t giving us what we need, when in fact it’s up to us to find others who fulfill those needs, instead of expecting it from others who maybe can’t fulfill them 🥰

Example) I’m not a snowboarder, but would feel bad that my partner regularly expects that of me to feel that I care about them or when I just want to stay home sometimes and a friend constantly expects me to go out with them . . .
