Well I guess I slept in today. My apologies for a late post.The Christmas parade in London and Poplar Hill is today! Does that mean Christmas is close?? Oh no! I have sooo much to do and I am slow at doing it. The next thing will be snow! This week we are offering a favourite comfort classic. CHICKEN PARMESAN! Lightly breaded chicken cutlets browned and set atop of Parmesan noodles dressed with a little marinara sauce and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese. This comes with a fresh roll and a Caesar salad.yum yum!

This week we offer an old standby. CHICKEN POTPIE. Chunks of chicken and fresh vegetables in a flavourful sauce and topped with a freshly baked herb biscuit. Great News!!!!!!!It looks like the little GHOSTS and GOBLINS will enjoy decent weather to trick or TREAT! I Am giving out baggies of leaves this year…..a leaf collection without the search! I think the MONSTERS and MOMMIES are hiding all our rakes this year so we can avoid the task. We hear whispers in the wind “leaf it alone, it will get done beleaf me!!!!!!!!!”
With Halloween in mind, I decided on HALLOASIAN cuisine for this weeksTakeout, MONGOLIAN GROUND BEEF NOODLES wIth VEGGIES of course! NOTHING like worms with the dreaded vegetables!Mongolian ground beef is a savoury and slightly sweet dish that,s bursting with flavour and an ideal choice for a weeknight Halloween meal . My sincere apologies for my late posts .Last week I was sLow at the technicalities . I had to refresh myself with how to post etc and i5 didnt leave much time for ordering. This week we had the pleasure of spending the weekend with friends inHanover where we faced a lake, fished and toured about on the pontoon boat. We were driven to many new places about and we talked with a family who ran an organic farm. I did not even know about these little lake communities but we enjoyed every minute of the weekend. So I decided, my best communication to you my friends would be to post on Friday, so it would give you time to digest my descriptive offering about the next weeks menu. This week we are serving Chicken Broccoli Alfredo' cheesy pasta with fresh dinner rolls and a crisp garden salad. For dessert you might consider a fresh lemon sponge pudding

FALL is fast approaching so a sense of normalcy is happening in our lives, I hope. The busy days of summer have left us scurrying about to hunker down to the hustle and bustle of the coming season. I heard the ding of the school bell and a faint sigh from mom. It did seem like fall with the cooler weather but it soon did a switch and sent the heat back and the pesky mosquitoes! Igave up toiling over “garden catch up”with so many mosquitoes, extreme heat and the inability to stay on my feet during the task. One rain later and the weeds were right back where they were.I did manage a batch of relish and some salsa from the garden offerings . But leaves from last fall, still adorn some of my flower beds! Oh well next year will be more productive I hope. But now I am ready to help you take a meal break again this week.
This week we are offering STROMBOLI (4 choices) which is basically a rolled up loaf like a pizza, garlic bread and a crisp salad dressed with homemade ranch . And marinara dipping sauce.

It is with heartfelt thanks I am writing this to thank all my family, friends, neighbours and customers for all the love and support through cards, letters, visits, flowers etc while I navigate this stroke journey. My family have been my rock as I struggle through rehab to gain my strength and mobility. I have always been independent, impatient and determined but this has been a real challenge in all areas. I’m not quite 100 percent there yet but I would like to get some normality to my life. I am in the process of getting my driver permit back and I have been cooking for the family again. My intention is to begin TAKE OUT WEDNESDAY in the fall so stay tuned for information. In the meantime, if you have any special needs for party or charcuterie trays, cakes or baking please give me a call or reply here and we can see what we can do for you. I hope you are enjoying the summer. I have many new salads in my book to try this year! Thanks again for all the LOVE and SUPPORT. You are the BEST medicine one could have! Update

Hi everyone! Just a little update on Mom. She is one week into her stay at Parkwoods Stroke Rehabilitation floor. The length of her stay will be dependent upon her progress but we are hopeful for her to get home by the end of July. She is making tremendous progress, working so hard each day with many different therapy’s. She’s been working on her watercolour painting, feeding all the Parkwood baby geese. They will be sad to see her go! She’s antsy to get home and she misses everyone so much! Thanks for always checking in and keeping her in your thoughts!

Good Evening,

I just wanted to pop on for an overdue update for Mom. She has officially been at Parkwood for a week and has been doing wonderful! Each day she shows an improvement with something new and we could not be more proud of how hard she is working! She has even had the pleasure of a visit with her Bonnie which was great for both of them!

She has various therapy’s and very day and this week is starting a walking group. There is more progress to come but so far she has been knocking it out of the park. All of those who know mom, know she will not give up.

We thank each and every one of you for the cards, prayers, words of encouragement and support. She is enjoying reading through them.

Update on Sue

Thanks again to you all. Our hearts are so warmed with the outpouring of love for our Mom. She has been keeping everyone on their toes with her humour, stories and demands. She is doing remarkably well and a little better as each day passes. The Drs are pleased with how she is responding and progressing that they are working on getting her moved to Parkwood where she can continue to focus on her recovery. She is looking forward to a visit from her Bonnie as well as she asks about her every day.

We continue to thank you all for checking in on her and we are just so happy to be able to report her progress being so positive!

Sue Update:

We want to thank everyone for their prayers! On Monday April 10 mom suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke. Today she received the OK to move out of the Neuro Observation Unit today and into her own room. We are so thankful for the amazing Nurses, Doctors and all the staff who have helped my mom get to where she is today. While she still has a long road ahead we are so confident in her incredible determination and tenacity that she will recover.

I will keep updating here for her loyal friends who have been so wonderful at bringing her such joy week after week!

To all the friends of The Sentimental Touch, I am Sue’s daughter and just making an announcement that Wednesday Take Out will be on pause for a bit. My mother has been hospitalized and we are working with the amazing staff at University Hospital to get her back where she loves to be. If you can add her in your thoughts and include her in your prayers we would welcome that.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for keeping her always busy and loving all of you and all she does!

Well it’s back to Wednesday Takeout again! Glad to be back but sorry the beautiful warmth didn’t follow me! I want to wish you all a HAPPY EASTER! Hope you all enjoyed a basket of goodies and a bell full of deliciousness. This week we get back to basics with some comfort foot…….an old favourite. Yes we call MAC n CHEESE comfort food but in the south it is a STAPLE! Mac n cheese with everything and everywhere! We will stick to the Canadian tradition of gooey, creamy ,cheesy baked Mac n cheese, served with tasty roasted pea meal. Add a salad of Mandarin Apple mixed greens with a citrus dressing and you will be in flavourtown for dinner!

We are back with a SPRING in our step and SPRING a on our minds! We have enjoyed our fun in the sun and are ready to go! Met many new friends from places afar and had a marvellous but exciting time enjoying amazing weather and new adventures . Had visits from family and enjoyed interacting with nature. This year we made daily visits to owl nests and met the little ones popping up and down to our hooting sounds! It is so close to Easter and my pantry is bare and the fridge is empty so my intent is to give you a break and provide some suggestions to help you with your Easter gathering.
