Fun Fact 🌸 S&B’s vision started with a card, and a dream to create a line of greeting cards that couldn’t be created with a computer (much before AI existed). Each design starts with pressing flowers, arranging them by hand then photographing and editing them to look almost like the real thing! All my cards are printed locally and assembled in studio 🥰.
It’s summertime, so naturally I’m leaning into all things nautical and Nova Scotia inspired. 🌊🦞⚓️⛵️🐟
When I plan my artwork, it’s more often than not influenced by this beautiful province, the landscapes, wildflowers in season and natural creatures around us… it grounds me and make me feel more connected to nature.
I have a few new concepts brewing lately and can’t wait to make some time to paint with flowers…for now I’m foraging everything I need to make this vision come to life… and of course adding animation to all my current pieces because I’m obsessed with how cute this sailboat scene turned out. ⛵️

Flower pressing pro tip!
Cut the stems off as close to the base of the flower as possible for a nice even final pressed flower. I press some stems separately and glue together, no one will ever know 🥰 .

Blossoms and wildflowers have short season so sometimes I feel like a blink and I miss them. Knowing it was going to rain this week I had to pick some apple blossoms before I missed them for this season and had to wait an entire year for them again. 🌸
What’s almost as bad???
Pressing them at the end of their season and having them not turn out, or mold 🤦🏼♀️
I’ll be honest, mold by far is the worst and most common thing that happens when pressing flowers. As often as I check on my presses sometimes it’s out of my control… but missing flowers in bloom, totally my fault and bad planning so because of that I’m marking it as number one.
