*Sighs* 😕okay. Can we just take a moment today and talk a wee bit about basic etiquette?

Vendors, how many times have you opened up an email, DM, what’s App message and seen:
“How much?”
“I need decor how much do you charge”
“Can you make me a cake by this weekend”
“What’s the sale price you are having”
“How much do you charge for a wedding coverage?”

Literally no Hi, no name, no how are you?, nothing!
It boggles my mind every. Single. Time!🤯
If you are someone who is getting married, or inquiring for someone who is, please please PLEASE take a moment to address the vendor you are reaching out to by name.
‼️Please make sure you include important details such as:
🔅Name
🔅Event date(S)
🔅Timings
🔅Venue/ location
🔅Along with any other information that may be necessary.

If you’re sending them a DM, please still be courteous and not send in a one liner like “how much”.
When people message me and we “how much” for my services... I literally sit there, blinking, staring at the screen trying to figure out where to even start! Even I don’t know how much my decor or planning services will cost based on the information provided (read: none!)

By providing basic event info in your initial inquiry, you’ll be saving yourself and the vendor countless amounts of back and forth messages before receiving a quote. :)

“But Nas, when I send someone a DM, it’s just a quick message, I don’t have time to write up an essay of information. I just need to know how much something costs”
I get it, but in sending out a message you can still address the persons name. You can still provide some small amounts of details. Remember, this is someone you are hoping or thinking of building a working relationship with.

Think about it, most of the time, when it comes to weddings, everything is highly customized.
From cakes to decor to floor wraps to wedding dresses to photography and videography. It’s not always a black and white answer that can be given without any prior information.

If you’re not sure how to start or what to say, feel free to just copy the text written on the next slide. 🤗

Check out this beauty we created for Talha and Sadeka’s valima a day before everything went into lockdown!

It feels like a million years ago that in person consults were a thing and that Talha came over to discuss decor.
Once we finalized on the general vision and design he left the rest to those most important! His sisters and me (duh!- kidding 🙃). Together over a few weeks we finalized on all details and tada!

See, the thing with me is I LOVE customizing looks for all of my couples. I want them to walk in and be blown away by how an idea can come to life. I always tell my couples that their decor should be also a reflection of them. Guests shouldn’t walk in and think “oh that’s cute but I’ve seen this before a million times”, they should come in and think “okay woah! The couple would totally do this!”.

I was just telling a bride of mine today that it’s important to find vendors who value and most importantly RESPECT your vision- even if your vision isn’t 100% solid/clear.
While it is our job as designers to be able to hone in on what that vision is- we shouldn’t push our own vision onto them in an effort to make more money or make that backdrop we’ve been itching to make. After a while, a wedding may just feel like a project to you, but to the couple- it’s still THE most important day of their life. So it’s imperative that both parties click and connect to truly create a fun experience for all!

🤯😭😢🤬😩Ever feel like this when wedding planning? 😩🤬😢😭🤯
Often times, we think that a question or worry that we have about the wedding is a really big one- it can add stress and unwanted anxiety to your wedding planning… And be something that feels much bigger than maybe it actually is. This is why I always say talk to somebody about it! Get a fresh perspective, or perhaps even a super quick/ creative solution. 🤷🏽‍♀️

It doesn’t have to be a wedding planner it can be your fiancé
✨it can be your friend
✨it can be your sister
✨Or your mom/ dad.
You can also always reach out to your vendors if it’s a worry thats pertaining to their specialty and just get their thoughts on it. I know it can feel like it’s you against the world when it comes to wedding planning but the truth is there are a lot of great, professional, caring vendors in our community and they all are very transparent when it comes to being able to answer your questions to the best of their ability.

When you hire the right vendors for your wedding... Your stress goes down, your worry goes away, and absolute magic!

Raise your hands if you’re all about non cookie cutter/ picked out of a catalog/ been there done that kinda decor!

I pride myself on the fact that Every. Single. Event. I’ve ever designed for my couples has always been customized to their theme and liking. It’s so important to come up with a look that is unique and truly amplified the ambiance of what you want your guests to feel when they walk in.

Honestly, I get it- a lot of the elements that go into creating a backdrop are similar (florals, draping, structures etc), but there’s a world of possibilities in terms of how you can take them and morph it into something you love!

Definitely use IG, Pinterest, and magazines to get an idea of inspires you, but after that- come in to your decor meeting with an open mind, a smile, and your excitement for your wedding and we’ll have some fun planning out your decor!

Ps. If you guys ever get a chance to speak with a past bride of mine- you’ll discover that im not even joking when I say we have loads of fun designing looks!! 🤗

💫Who else is out here dreaming up the perfect wedding with their bestie?!👰🏽

Tag your bff, sister, fiance / partner in crime below and let them know you appreciate their input and help!

Why? Because so many times we assume wedding planning is done between just the bride and groom but in reality it’s much different! You’ve probably got a few close friends/ family members you sit there going over inspirational pics, ideas, and mulling over the tiny details that bring together everything. These people aren’t paid for their work- they do it out of the sheer love they have for you!
Be sure to thank them, or hug them... or if you’re like me... just randomly squeeze their cheeks and let them know you love em!

‼️𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆‼️
When the Premier announced that stage 3 would allow for outdoor gathers of 100, and indoor gatherings of 50- I was slightly bummed out. Dont get me wrong, I completely understand and am all for making sure we are all being safe while celebrating. So while I dont think we should be pulling ‘a Florida’, I was hoping for gathering sizes to be slightly larger.
However, a few minutes into the update- our Premier said something that lit up a lightbulb in my head! He mentioned that if banquet halls can come up with plan that allows for large gatherings to take place in a safe manner, and puts public safety first, then they should submit that plan to the minister of Health for consideration. THAT is amazing! So couples, planners, and other vendors, I urge you to speak with your venue if your wedding is being effected by COVID19.
Venues, Im sure youve already started thinking of what can be done to allow for larger gatherings, but if possible, come up with a plan and submit it to the provincial government for consideration!
Lets turn 2020 around, and show COVID19 just whose in charge!
I’m listing below information on where you can submit your carefully thought out reopening plans:
General Inquiry: 416-212-3831

https://www.ontario.ca/form/work-government-stage-3-reopening-plan
In general, if you’re a vendor and you’ve been affected, you should send in a form and let em know!

https://www.ontario.ca/form/survey-economic-impacts-covid-19
PS. If you are a venue that has already submitted plans which were approved and are ready to host larger gathers, or if you know of any venues (be it banquet halls, golf clubs, Airbnb’s etc), that can safely host larger scale events already tag them below!
Let’s help our community jump start, and help couples who are looking to have a wedding with a smaller guest count still make the absolute best of a situation!

Patiently waiting for the day, wedding invites start going out again!
Each weekend that goes by when I would have been working a wedding over the last few weeks, I get just a wee bit sadder. When you work with a couple for months on end, they become like family to you. Their pain is your pain, and their stress is your stress. Soooooo I kinda need this stress to fly away now. 😅

🎂A little about me- Birthday Edition! Yay!🎉

Hi everyone! Im Nas and Im a 4/20 baby :)
We’ve had a few new friends follow on IG, and soooooo heres a few fun birthday related facts about me!

🎈Im a sucker for German Chocolate Cake, and Key Lime Cheesecake.

🎈The last time I had a birthday party was 7 years ago for my 25th birthday

🎈I share my birthday with two other people in my family- my cousin and my niece.

🎈My daughters birthday is a day before my husbands, and my sons birthday is two days after mine- so its safe to say our kids have successfully overshadowed our own birthdays. We usually (and happily) spend our own birthdays prepping away for theirs.

🎈For the last 5 years, I have always ALWAYS had an event I was working on my actual birthday. Last year, my couple and a good friend of mine were super sweet and had give me a shoutout at a wedding! Yes, I cried.😭

*Okay, now that I think about it more, I can see why I haven't bothered throwing a party for myself in all of these years, something is ALWAYS happening on or around my birthday* LOL😅

🎈Let me know your birthday in the comments below! 📆 It’ll be really nice to see! And if you're shameless like me, and dont really care about your being public knowledge- let me know how old you’ll be turning this year too!

How beautiful a sight is it that regardless of race, faith, and personal beliefs, you see your girls come together for your big day.
There are a million things I love about Canada and everyday I wake up thankful to have been born in such a diverse country.
With our niche; our specialty being in South Asian and Inter-faith weddings, hands down the one thing that ALWAYS warms my heart is when I see my couples naturally be super inclusive. It’s so normal to them, that I swear they probably don’t even notice them doing it.
If you have a bridal party that is as diverse / mixed as California spring salad 👀, a great way to create a cohesive look is to decide on a colour scheme and let your bridesmaids choose a dress that fits their style/belief/comfort level and voila! You’ve got yourself a glorious mix of girls that are easily the epitome of

What are some ways that you think would be a good idea for being inclusive?!

👩🏽‍💻What you think working from home looks like 🆚 What it actually looks like! 💁🏽‍♀️
Lately my days are spent mostly in my PJ’s or sweats.
My work essentials, aside from my laptop, phone, , and Daily agenda, now also include a truck full of snacks.
With the kids and husband both at home….all..the...time...I am now also responsible for making like 9 meals a day, so my work outfit often is styled with a splash of tomato sauce, a dash of turmeric (Im Desi okay!), and a TRUE messy bun so thick, I'm sure birds would consider it an optimal nest to lay their eggs in. LOL 🐥🐣
But here’s also something that's come out of all of this:
✨I find myself able to work more in less hours
✨I’ve got a better grasp in what REALLY matters most
✨My kids are actually a really great source of inspiration for me.
✨Ive been able to attend a lot more webinars and workshops- YAY for professional development
✨My sofa has a permanent bum indentation from constantly sitting in this corner and working!!
All jokes aside, I can't wait to go back to working in my normal office space! I may even treat myself to a super comfy office chair when I'm back!
What does your work from home spots look like?! And most importantly, what are you binge snacking on lately!?!?

03/20/2020

Much like my mailbox, I find my IG feed is also filled with sympathy posts from vendors, (not so) fun facts about COVID-19, announcements of stores shutting down, and a general sense of impending doom.

I get it, with weddings being cancelled/postponed left right and centre, it’s taking a toll on all of us mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and any other ‘ally’ you can think of.
👰🏽🤵🏽To my brides: I can’t even begin to imagine the turmoil you must be feeling. Having to scramble to find a new date that not only works for you, your venue, your photographer, your decorator etc and then having to come to terms with the fact that you may be losing out on initial payments of one of your vendors isn’t available on the new date.

👩🏽‍💻👨🏻‍💻To my fellow vendors: Over the past 8 years, I’ve been blessed enough to get to know so many of you and to be able to immerse myself into an industry that is unlike any other. For the first time though, I’m also getting to experience just how… fragile this industry is as well. While we are titans, holding our heads high and caring for our couples before ourselves, standing together strong- the reality is that so many of us are out hundreds of thousands of dollars‼️We’re mostly small business owners who will have little to NO INCOME for the next 3 months.
Either way, let’s just say it out loud…

👏🏽👏🏽THIS IS A HELLA SH*TTY SITUATION TO BE IN- WITH NO ONE REALLY TO BLAME… except for a damned virus that is so small that I cant even throw my sandals at it to feel better. 🥿🥿

So here is what I am going to do from my end. From here on out, I will do my best to put out posts that raise your spirits, raise your eyebrows (because you’ll probably see what self-isolation can do to a person like me with my shinanigans), and will be filled with as much helpful tips as I can offer during this time.
Cuz likeeeeee lets be honest-talking more about this pandemic does not do well for our mental health.

So tell me, whats something you’ve been doing during the last couple of days?
Me? I’ve been exercising a lot! Exercising my stomach that is! I’ve never snacked so much out of boredom before in my life! 🙄

🚨𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜?!🚨

With the World Health Organization recently announcing the COVID-19 virus as a pandemic, you may have noticed many social events, conferences, and large scale gatherings are being postponed or even cancelled!
But hey, it’s one thing to cancel a conference but another thing to completely cancel a wedding. Am I right???
In the midst of all this panic, I find myself constantly reassuring my couples who are getting married in the summer, and also coming up with game plans for couples getting married in the next two weeks.
Here are a few tips/ things to consider if you are getting married in the next two months (This does not apply to anyone getting married in the summer- This post will likely be totally irrelevant by then 🤞🏽). We’re not medical professions, and so please use these points as a guideline and not as something written in stone. Be vigilant and do your research too!

‼️As obvious as it may seem, I wanted to reiterate DO NOT PANIC! I get it, it can be hard not to panic, but in times like this, it is imperative to look past the cloud of fake news and focus on the actual numbers/ stats. As of right now (March 12, 2020), Ontario is only advising you postpone events larger than 1000.
‼️If you have guests coming from out of town- It’s okay to ask them NOT to attend! It’s okay to have them not risk getting sick to attend your wedding. Airports are currently a cesspool of germs from everywhere, even if they themselves are not sick- why risk it??
‼️Communicate with your local guests. Please ask them to not attend that wedding of they or someone in their family is even a little sick. Runny nose? Don’t come. Headache? Don’t come. Unusual fatigue? Don’t come! Its that simple.
‼️Put up extra signs during the wedding promoting guests to wash hands frequently. Place sanitizers at all tables, and make announcements throughout the night asking guests to go clean their hands before eating etc.
‼️Talk to your venue. This is a time where you sit down with them and have a FIRM conversation
