Today’s wedding. I swear it started raining the minute we walked outside for the ceremony and still - every day is a great day for a wedding! Want to get married on a Monday? Why not!

Joe and Dawn got married 6 weeks ago today on a Monday at 9am at their home with friends and neighbours present.

Joe and Dawn knew each other many years ago growing up in Grenada and had gone their separate ways.
Years later they found each other again and decided to get married.
I’d say that calls for a Monday wedding at 9am!

If you’d like to get married on a Monday or any day that ends in Y, message me.
I think any day is a good day for a wedding!

Sometimes I forget to mention things.

Sometimes I forget to mention to couples that when I pronounce you as a married couple the service isn't finished.

After THAT pronouncement (and some cheering/hooting/hollering) there is ANOTHER pronouncement - the one where I introduce the newly married couple to their friends and family.
It sounds like this: "for the first time I'd like to introduce you all to..."

Sometimes I forget to mention this.
I forgot to mention this to Billy and Valerie before their wedding.
It was totally my fault.

But I don't think it would have changed anything.

There is something unique about every couple I meet. I could write an awesome story about all of them and if I wrote one about B&V it would definitely include this really sweet and funny moment when I said they were officially married and they ran off happily with each other before I finished the ceremony.

Everyone smiled and clapped but mostly we just enjoyed watching them enjoy their first few moments together as a married couple. I know I did.

Sometimes I forget to mention things and sometimes it turns into an awesome moment.

Wow, do I really get to have this job?
Yet another amazing benefit of officiating weddings is getting to see my wonderful friends and celebrating all together.

Isn’t this a beautiful ceremony spot?

It was REALLY windy and I didn’t fall in the pond. I’d call that a success!

I guess this is the face I make when I watch people make promises.

It’s not a face of doubt or wonder but of gladness. Gladness that I am even asked to be part of this important event in people’s lives.

It’s also a face of thankfulness (I know, I know…is it really?) Well, all I know is that when I’m hearing vows being shared I am so thankful that we don’t have to figure all of this out alone. We all get the ultimate example of what commitment looks like in God. He was the first to show us the value and meaning of all sorts of commitments, of which loving others was one of the most significant.

I get to see this at weddings and I guess this is how my face looks when I see it.

Congratulations to two loving and really wonderful people, Adam and Dana.

Two days before I married Alannah and Steve I LOST MY VOICE.
Nervously, I met them the day prior to the wedding for their rehearsal (where they would also hear the new me 🥴)
Their response?
“No problem!” 🙌
I should have known from our previous meetings that they would be gracious to me.

The next day their closest family and friends met at Victoria Park for the wedding and it was an awesome day!

Sounds strange but the best part of officiating weddings is not the wedding itself.

I told you, sounds strange.

The horribly saturated photo here (done on purpose to blur out some faces) is from a pre-wedding event that I was invited to.

This really sweet couple asked me to eat with the whole family and the whole wedding party for breakfast one Saturday morning before their rehearsal and this confirmed for me that the best part of your wedding is never the food but the invitation to know you and tell your story.

You don’t need to invite me to any meals but thank you all for asking me to marry you.
I promise to know you and speak of your love well.
