✨✨ 2026 Updates Below!!

Today I had full intentions of making a day-in-the-life reel but I honestly had yet another day of just sitting at my laptop and there is nothing exciting to watch about that!

So here’s something much more exciting to look at 😋

Back in 2023 I had announced that I would be taking a break for the 2025 wedding season. Because of all the work that went into the 2023 season, I was burned out and ready for a good pause. But 2024 happened, it was an incredible season and each and every client truly reminded me why I got into this business in the first place (so grateful! 🥲).

I realized that it wasn’t really that I needed time away. It was clarity about how to serve my clients in the best way possible. I’m truly thankful for every wedding I’ve been a part of, and my top priority has always been giving my absolute best to each couple, because they deserve it (I say that all the time because it’s true!!).

So, in 2025, I still took it down to very few weddings, it almost still feels like a break 😅 but they’re weddings that I know I will be able to give my best to. It’s a season with an intentional shift that already makes me excited for the future of my business!

I’ll be opening my books for 2026 soon! I’ve already had quite a few inquiries (thank you!!) and I am excited to get there!

I feel very blessed, I know I am. And I really do enjoy the slower season, and all the preparation that takes place during this time. But I will say that although I’m not rushing it, of course there’s a part of me that can’t wait to be back in the thick of wedding season 💕

One of my favourite backyard weddings that I ever had was for Courtney & Evan (not that I’ve ever had one that I didn’t like! 😋). The venue was so perfect for the vibe they were going for surrounding their big day, and having such a connection to it was a plus!

When you’re choosing your wedding venue, the process can feel overwhelming. Here’s a few tips to help you find a space that feels right for you:

1️⃣ Know your guest list before you start. Make sure you don’t fall in love with a space that’s too big or too small for your celebration.

2️⃣ Think about the logistics. Location matters! Is the venue easy for your guests to get to? Does it have accommodations nearby, or a backup plan for bad weather? The little details make a big difference!

3️⃣ Consider the atmosphere. Are you dreaming of a modern, formal day? Or a rustic, relaxed feel? The venue sets the tone for your big day, so make sure it matches the style you envision.

4️⃣ Feel a connection. This can’t always be your first priority, but when you can, remember that the right place should feel right. Whether it’s the way the light streams through windows, or the view that amazes you, choose a place where you can really see yourself celebrating you and your partner! It’s your day— your space should reflect that.

There are many other things to consider, but remember this: the best venue will reflect your unique dreams, and make you feel excited to celebrate 💕

Jacques & Jenna 😍 Mr and Mrs. Thibodeau!

I have too much to say about how much I enjoyed working with Jenna. If you can’t tell from these gorgeous pictures, she is an absolute ray of sunlight. She was so positive throughout the planning process, she had a clear vision but was really open to me helping her workshop her ideas and that made it so much fun for both of us. It really felt like we became friends, and I always love that.

I actually cannot believe I am about to say that we are nearing the home stretch for our wedding season. Where has the time gone?!

But before we get there, I am so excited to be decorating and coordinating for Brandon & Lindsay this coming Saturday. It’s so often that in the hubbub of wedding plans, I won’t finally take the time to sit back until a few days before the wedding, and look back on the process, and see how great it really was. Working with Lindsay and getting to know her and her beautiful family has been such a pleasure. And I told her today how much I’ve also appreciated working with her mom! I have really been blessed with some amazing couples this year.

Here to you guys! I can’t wait to celebrate you 🩵

👋 Once again, it’s been a while!

This summer was the most rewarding wedding season that I’ve experienced since I started this little business. I was a part of more weddings than ever; my team took on new tasks and responsibilities. I laughed and cried with our clients and their families. I appreciated all the moments.

But with that came late nights and early mornings, building inventory, so much manual labour, saying no to so many things in my life so that I could give our clients as much as I could; as much as they deserve. It was so hard. I know that so many of you out there can appreciate how much work it takes sometimes to do what you’re passionate about to the best of your abilities. I was talking with a photographer in my area and she told me to remember that whenever I felt like quitting, it’s just my over-stimulated brain talking, and that there are more ways to make it work as long as I want to make it work.

And I do want to! Being a part of these special moments is something that I could not let go of yet. But in order to give myself the best chance of keeping this smile on my face throughout the whole process, I knew I needed to make a drastic change.

So, with all that said, I have decided that Still River Weddings will be taking a break for the 2025 wedding season. I am looking forward to a small amount of weddings in 2024, and then will be taking a beat, and focussing on my personal life. It feels so strange to be putting this out there; with the momentum of growth we’ve seen in the last 3 years, anyone on the outside would look in and say this was the wrong move. But in that growth, I haven’t really taken the proper time to sit and decide the right direction of this business. While I’m thankful for exactly what it is now; it’s honestly not what I want it to be. And I want to fix that.

I plan to leave myself open to a few little projects in the wedding space; so please don’t be afraid to reach out even in my off-year. I’d still be so glad to figure out how I can help you!

I’m so excited to have the time and space to create the future I want for this business, and to serve all of your wedding dreams as best as I can.

Average (aka boring 🙃) day in the off-season. But I’m in no way trying to rush these days, busy will come again soon enough!

It’s the week of my wedding; so what’s my wedding planner doing? Every wedding is so different, and I don’t know if I could list everything that will go in this week. But the bottom line is; we’re staying organized, and so it’s going to be lots of fun ☺️

If today taught me anything, it’s that this just and content creation might not go hand in hand 😅 (note the lack of video of the ceremony, the epic bridal party entrance, the first dance, the speeches, etc…) Working with Jacques and Jenna was an absolute dream. Love you guys; all the best for the future 💕

The only day I might look more grungy than the day after the wedding, is the day before. But I did (and always will) bring a change of outfit for the rehearsal 😅 I’m not sure if I just filmed all the wrong moments but I promise you we really do have a lot of fun on decor days! There’s a calm, quiet feeling to this type of ‘busy’; we put our favourite music on, we chat about life, and of course we keep each other hyped to see the final result. Come back tomorrow to see wedding weekend day 2: the wedding day!!
