On Saturday, October 18th, 2025, hearts came together under one roof for a night called “Spreading Smiles.”

Created with love by Soraya Bernardo and Roberto Picanço, the fundraiser brought together hundreds in song and generosity — all to bring Christmas joy to those less fortunate.

The air was filled with laughter, warmth, and the soulful rhythm of Portuguese traditional singing (Cantoria ao Desafio), ending beautifully with the talented duo Marly and Sérgio.

It was a night that reminded us that music, kindness, and community have the power to light even the coldest winter with hope and heart. A smile goes a long way.

No sábado, 18 de outubro de 2025, corações se uniram sob o mesmo teto para uma noite chamada "Espalhando Sorrisos".

Criado com carinho por Soraya Bernardo e Roberto Picanço, o evento beneficente reuniu centenas de pessoas em canções e generosidade — tudo para levar a alegria do Natal aos menos afortunados.

O clima estava repleto de risos, calor humano e o ritmo comovente da Cantoria ao Desafio, culminando em grande estilo com a talentosa dupla Marly e Sérgio.

Foi uma noite que nos lembrou que a música, a gentileza e a comunidade têm o poder de iluminar até o inverno mais frio com esperança e carinho. Um sorriso faz toda a diferença.

Associação Migrante de Barcelos, proudly showcased its Art and Creativity Exhibition at Toronto City Hall during the week of October 14th – 18th.

“Expressions of Barcelos: Art and Creativity,” show cased 30 original handmade ceramic pieces by artists from Barcelos.

This event collaborated the cultural connection between Portugal and Canada, launching a national tour that will share this remarkable artistic heritage with Portuguese-Canadian communities across the country.

A Associação Migrante de Barcelos apresentou com orgulho a sua Exposição de Arte e Criatividade na Câmara Municipal de Toronto, durante a semana de 14 a 18 de outubro.

“Expressões de Barcelos: Arte e Criatividade” apresentou 30 peças originais de cerâmica feitas à mão por artistas de Barcelos.

Este evento contribuiu para a ligação cultural entre Portugal e o Canadá, lançando uma digressão nacional que partilhará este notável património artístico com as comunidades luso-canadianas em todo o país.

It was an absolute pleasure capturing all the wonderful smiles at the 27th Anniversary celebration of Associação Migrante de Barcelos last Saturday evening. The performances by Kassio and Karma Band were incredible and kept everyone on their feet dancing all night!

Foi um prazer registrar todos os sorrisos maravilhosos na comemoração do 27º aniversário da Associação Migrante de Barcelos, no último sábado à noite. As apresentações de Kassio e da Karma Band foram incríveis e fizeram todo mundo dançar a noite toda!

The Portuguese Cultural Centre of Mississauga proudly hosted the Gala de Fado – Homenagem a Amália Rodrigues on Saturday, October 4th, 2025. It was a truly magical evening celebrating the timeless legacy of Amália Rodrigues, the Queen of Fado. The night concluded with a heartfelt standing ovation, as the audience was moved by powerful performances from Portuguese Fadistas Duarte and Célia Leiria.

O Centro Cultural Português de Mississauga acolheu orgulhosamente a Gala de Fado – Homenagem a Amália Rodrigues no sábado, 4 de outubro de 2025. Foi uma noite verdadeiramente mágica celebrando o legado intemporal de Amália Rodrigues, a Rainha do Fado. A noite terminou com uma sentida ovação de pé, enquanto o público se emocionou com as atuações poderosas dos fadistas portugueses Duarte e Célia Leiria.

I had the pleasure of photographing the Portuguese Bites & Sips event, which was a tremendous success thanks to the incredible generosity and support of everyone involved—especially Marta Goncalves for her outstanding work in organizing it. Together, they raised an impressive $6,090.00 for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, an organization devoted to helping women and children escape domestic violence.
